Soggy Conditions Understood, Poor Maintenance is Not Previously, every time I played Deer Creek it was with friends and they booked the tee time. The course was usually in fair shape and playable. This time, when I came back to K.C., I wanted to book a time somewhere a little better than usual for my family's typical golf outing. We saw the price Deer Creek offered for a weekday tee time and couldn't pass it up. After playing the course, we could see why. The sand traps were beyond "under repair" and in full-on mud puddle status. Although there was heavy rain in the area, limiting the grounds crew's ability to mow in the fairway, the rough could have and should have been cut. Because of the rough length, we spent a good deal of time looking for balls that were only a few yards off the fairway. Plus, I don't think it is too much to ask to notify golfers on that the greens are still recovering from aeration. Lastly, it is not out of the realm of possibility that a supposedly top-tier course such as this would have drainage in the fairways. With a drainage system in place we would not have played mud puddle to mud puddle and the price I payed would have been worth it. May 12, 2015
Beautiful Course! The course was in excellent shape in comparison to several other local courses, and you get your money's worth with this course. Water comes into play on most holes, and this course is definitely challenging. May 1, 2015
Fun course design and playability. The course layout is challenging but fun. Course sets in lowlands and was extremely wet. Carts were on path only which slowed the pace of play. Greens were a bit rough (recently aerated). Weather was good, so a good day to be out of the office. April 16, 2015
Great Course Rained over night so the course was extremely wet and played longer than normal. Great layout with tight fairways, but not that long. April 14, 2015
Deer Creek One of my favorite places to play in KC. The starter always makes me laugh, and not in a good way. The cart girl is very nice and always stopped to see if we needed anything. March 31, 2015
Clueless the course Marshall had no idea what to do and shouldn't be managing tee times! He checked my group in four time and had no idea what to do. He had no organization of the the groups or the order in which they should be teeing off. The pro staff in the shop weren't any help when I called in to inform them of this problem. The course condition was great, granted its early in the season but it doesn't look like they did any prep on the course what so ever. The tee boxes were beat and battered and the fairways were riddled with attended to divots from previous day. The food in the club house was terrible. I ordered a hot dog from the grill which was taken off the rollers, that weren't on! They gave me a half frozen hot dog. I asked for them to re grill it and they cooked for maybe a minute which didn't do anything. If you're looking for a good deal I wouldn't go here. Drive the extra few miles down and go to St. Andrews. Better course, better staff, better play. March 23, 2015
good couse for average but straight hitters A place I would like to play again. NO PLACE TO WARM UP March 23, 2015
Lots to look at I thought the layout of the course was very good the turns it takes to get to the next hole and homes on the course kept me busy. Does need a few signs telling you where the next tee box is located but it was my first time and was able to figure it out. Great name "creek" because it will be in play on 90% of the course. Really do not need to hit driver on the front and only a few holes on the back so play smart and put it away or bring 2 dozen golf balls. March 17, 2015
