You get what you pay for.
This course is definitely the most poorly maintained course I've played on. Most of the tee boxes are just dirt, as are large portions of the fairways. That said, it is an 18 hole course that you can play for under $30 on weekends with a cart. I don't know of any others in that price range, so for that kind of money, you don't expect a pristine course. That said, the people who work there are very friendly.

Terrible condition, non existent tee boxes, you must hit off driving range mats.

Good Forest Preserve Course, great for beginners
Get off the range and on the course!! Edgebrook is a great course for those golfers needing an ego boost for their game, or those short on time. I have brought a number of friends here who were beginners, scared to try an actual course, and they were hooked. The condition of the course is not the best in areas, but it plays fast and is a great value, especially for twilight hours. It's also rarely packed after 3 p.m. which was another benefit for beginners whose paced slowed on some holes.
Also a plus, there is a family of deer that roam the grounds making it a lot more picturesque at times.
