Callahan Golf Links 4.1 5 52 52
Great Course for the money! My mother and I played this course a few weeks ago for the first time, and we came back to it yesterday. The scenery is top-notch, especially in the Fall. The course used to be a farm and the staff have kept some of the old barns and other things around to enhance the experience and the beauty of the land. It's a Links course, so the land is kept as natural as possible; there are natural hazards, sloping, rolling fairways, moderately deep bunkers and absolutely pristine greens. The course is quite long; the longest hole is nearly 600 yards and the shortest is 160. The greens are incredibly fast, as well. Most people only play the front 9 holes. If you do make the turn, and you play near or at twilight, you pretty much have the back 9 to yourself and get to watch the sunset over the hills. It definitely makes for a challenging round of golf and one you won't forget for quite some time. November 12, 2012
Callahan Links is one of the best values in the area The course was in very good condition coming out of winter. The greens were just aerated, so they were a little bumpy. Otherwise they have some of the best greens in the area. April 2, 2013
Great course with great views and a very friendly staff!!!! We played on March 21, 2013. It was a cold, windy day. The greens had just been aerated. We had fun in spite of the previously mentioned items. I recommend this course to anyone. March 22, 2013
Priced too high for what it is. Charged summer rate for fall golf. There are a lot better courses out there for less money. March 18, 2013
Callahan Golf Links Review - Challenging Farm Golf Callahan Golf Links is a farm course that has been maintained fairly well since it was built just a few years ago. The greens are super fast and many of them are very difficult to read. If you can, bring your GPS with you when you come because there are a lack of distance markers from 150 yards in and the greens are usually surrounded by some type of hazard ( mostly down slopes into grass so thick your ball is instantly lost ). It was very crowded when I played, but I would expect most courses probably are crowded on St. Patty's day. It is about a 45 minute drive for me to get to Callahan... Would I go back? Probably not, but if I lived close by and was able to get a very good GN price ( < $25 ) then I would. March 18, 2013
I don't know how they do it but they always have the best greens in the area! Challenging but fair. The fairways are bare but everyone's are at this time of year. I play there often and it is usually a very good bargain. Try it. March 17, 2013
Love the short par 4 holds 3&16 Always a fun course to play love the downhill par 3s February 26, 2013
The course has some challenging holes. The course was enjoyable to play but I would not recommend to play this course after a couple days of rain due to some pour drainage on a few holes. February 25, 2013
lots of water hazzards, great views great course. Was very wet due to heavy rains, so we were restricted to cart path. Ground was soggy and standing water in many areas. Did not have time to play all 18 holes due to extra walking... look forward to playing full course soon. February 17, 2013
Well worth the drive I cannot wait for spring to see how it looks when it greens up. The course has a nice variety of holes without being too tricked up. I was lucky enough to be paired with someone who had played it many times so he could give me some insight. I would not have liked to have been in the blind when playing it for the first time. The staff was more than friendly and I'll be back. Thirty dollars well spent for a great experience! February 17, 2013
Great long course for the money! For it to be winter time, this course was in excellent shape. The greens were smooth and quick. The fairways were in solid condition for winter time. I didn't feel like I was hitting off of dirt like other "expensive" courses here in the North Atlanta area. Overall, this course will def. be my number one played location from here out. February 11, 2013
great place to play a round of golf great place to play very friendly bee back to play soon February 1, 2013
great test of golf Great place to play golf. Three different types of golf all rolled up in one course. There are 6 holes that play like scottish links, 6 that play like carolina pines, and 6 mountain holes. The only downside is pace of play can be slow and the marshal(if there are any) dont do anything. Like everywhere else. January 28, 2013
Challenging, but fun. There are a few holes you should (better) make birdie on here, only because there are a few you will most likely make bogie or worse. This course has matured over the last few years into a good track. After interacting with the staff and management, you know it's only going to get better. If you haven't played it, you should. January 25, 2013
the greens were excellent! nice course would definitly play there again beautiful scenery and very customer friendly January 7, 2013
This course has the best layout around! You have to come out and play this great mix of two styles of golf. Very unique and offers a great challenge! The staff could not be more friendly, and the golf is always a blast! January 5, 2013
Course was average... Went out and played at Callahan for the first time. I went pretty far out of my way to go play this course, but I feel it wasn't worth my money or time. The greens were in pretty good condition but that was about it. The tee boxes aren't very nice and the fairways are so-so. I know they're in winter condition but there were clumps of wet grass everywhere and overall I just wasn't impressed. I only played this course because of the 4+ star reviews, but the last 5 courses I've played on were better than this one. Maybe the course does a 180 during spring, who knows. It wasn't all terrible, as there was some nice scenery, but I wouldn't recommend it. My last 5 played courses are: (and have all been better maintained and more fun than Callahan) Bradshaw Farms Woodmont Cobblestone Bridgemill Marietta City Club January 4, 2013
Fun course Fun course to play and the staff is very friendly. It may not be a 5 star course but it is good course to get in a fun round and challenge your shoot placement. Some really great views with mountains in the background. December 24, 2012
Grrens are very fast. some are even unfair in the way they unjulate(?) Grrens are very fast. some are even unfair in the way they unjulate(?) December 16, 2012
Excellent course layout and perfect greens Something enchanting and exciting about this course. This is one of my favorite courses due too it's layout and feel. Might not look so impressive from first looks. As you start play on first hole it feels a little funky driving into a power line structure, you laugh. On to the second hole it gets even more fun with a drivable par 4 and it goes on to get more involved but fair with good golf shots at each hole that is to come. This is a Fair course as long as you play conservatively. As you make your way on the front it seems to get better and better. with dogleg right and left holes with moderate elevation changes. On the back the fairways are wide open and running out of fairway is only an issue from the whites. If you cant get away from bombing the driver, the black T's are where it's at. Playing from the whites on the first round I used a driver and would find trouble here and there. The second round I wised up and played with a 3 wood for drives of 220 230 and had great approach shots which lowered score significantly. I would say the most challenging holes are the par 3's which I feel keeps this course a good test of golf. Others my may differ in opinion. To me they looked easy but when it got down to it you need to be very close to the pin to par. The Greens are perfect in my opinion the best in this area. I think these greens are far better than crystal falls, hamptons, fairways of canton. this is due too the structure and feel. This is my opinion and hope this course lives up to your expectations. From what I hear a this a family farm turned into golf course, and excellent one in my opinion. One can see this as you T off next to barn and greenhouses and pass by their homes with farm equipment and such. I imagine summer golf here would be amazing. The rhythm of play felt great through all 18. Nothing contrived in it's layout, just pure wholesome golf course. The Callahan's should be really proud of this course. I consider it 4 star in layout links style and greens surface and feel. 19hcp 1st round 100 6 penalties(w) 2nd round 83 2 penalties (w) December 16, 2012
Nice "parkland" style course First time plying Callahan Golf Links and I was extremely happy. It was late November when I played it and the greens were spectacular!!!! I didn't notice a single imperfection on any of the 18 greens. The fairways and rough were dormant but I imagine in the summer they are lush and full. I'll definitely be returning. December 1, 2012
This course is in a wonderful setting and it is very enjoyable to play. Some might say Callahan is a links style course. One thing that adds to that feel is that it isn't one of those that is woven through a residential neighborhood. Rather, the farm setting with open spaces and rolling hills allows a player at times to feel like it's your own course and very much at home. Many of the holes provide unique challenges. Callahan is one course where there is not a single hole I don't enjoy playing. The owners and staff have given the area a great gift providing such a great place to play golf at a great value! November 29, 2012
Nice afternoon round. I enjoy playing at this course. The only negative was they shotgunned a foursome in front of us on the back 9. November 25, 2012
front and back nine play different, good variety the greens were in really good shape for this time of year November 23, 2012
Great links style course Will definitly come back - fun coeurse to play - great value November 22, 2012
Callahan Golf Course My friend's had told me that Callahan Golf Course was a special place for a round of golf..Well they were correct. The course for the Fall Season was in great shape.. the green's were fast and great condition..got to play with -3- other guy's that knew the course and it helped a great deal... Callahan will be a course I play many more times..the value was great ..No homes to clutter up the view's all in all a great day-Oh 96 but it was still a good day..thru Golf Now made the day even better-great Price November 22, 2012
Greens are currently excellent. Bermuda us currently dormant so course is brown and thin, but the greens are excellent, smooth and fast. Pin placements can be very tough at times. From the back tees this course is a good challenge for single digit handicappers. And it is not just a links course, there are plenty of trees, creeks, ponds, etc to give you more to think about. November 21, 2012
Course in good shape for this time of the year! Not a long course but a couple will get especially #5 and #7. November 20, 2012
Greens always role great The greens will keep you on your toes and coming back November 1, 2012
better than avg bent grass greens for a public course. Beautiful scenery. Overall the course is in good shape, especially for a public course. At times the rough can be pretty tall, but most of the fairways are ample. Plenty of elevation changes, water hazards and bunkers to make the course reasonably challenging. Practice green is also reasonably close to what you see on the course (not always the case at public courses). Bent grass greens are better than average for a public course. One of 5 courses I rotate between in the NW Atlanta area... October 31, 2012
