Challenging terrain, scenic shots, great value
The elevation changes throughout the course make it scenic and challenging. There are three short par fours with blind drives, and prior knowledge of them is extremely helpful for shot selection. Offering pictures of these holes in particular on the tee box would be helpful. #10 could use a picture, too. Several of the greens ran smooth and true. However, others like #17, have significant turf loss, including around the hole, making precision putting impossible when traversing these areas. All in all, I will return to play Chestatee because of its beauty, challenge, and value.

Tough Course for the average player.
Starter was very friendly and the "cart girl" came by 3 times during our round. Course was not in the best shape, they had just treated the greens and the fairways and bunkers were in need of some attention.

Nice conditions
The course was in as good of shape as can be expected in February. The greens were very nice. Fairways had tight lies due to dead grass but that was to be expected. Sand traps were raked as best as could be. Golf carts were in fine shape. Played as a twosome in 4 hours flat, taking our time on a windy 57 degree day.

Enjoyed my round at Chestatee
Played on a Monday and had a good time. Course wasn't spectacular but was maintained and had a good layout. Play was a little backed up but got through in just over four hours. Average tee boxes and fairways, but greens were a little spotty yet not terrible.

Great course with greens problems
Nice layout, good fairways, sand traps in good condition. I have been playing this course for about 4 years and they seem to have a problem with the greens. Many bald spots making putts hop into air and get offline and slowed down. After awhile I would just move the ball to the nearest location without bald spots. Wish they could fix this problem. I still like the course.

Like the course
The course was very wet as it had rained the previous night. It was cart path only so it was pretty slow. saying that the only thing that annoyed me was the ranger told us to hurry up several times, when there was NO where to go. Greens were good for the time of year except for a couple greens.

Great layout, unhealthy greens
I did enjoy the layout of the course, and most of the grounds an fairways were in good shape for the season, but the greens were in awful shape. Lots of patches with sand and no grass. I was told that they got really bad at the end of last season, probably were too hard and got diseased. Supposedly they have gotten better over the past couple months, but have a long way to go. Hopefully alright by mid-Spring. You don't hit the clubhouse at the turn, do load up on snacks and drinks on your way out. Good luck with hole #8!

Many greens were in bad shape
this course has had difficulty with greens before, but had improved earlier this year. Now it is back to being VERY SPOTTY.

I would play there again
This course is an all around course.The lay out of the holes and the difficulty were setup well to challenge any golfer.

Course in good condition
Course is in good condition greens are getting better but still a few that are poor. The night before we played it got down into the low 30's and someone left the sprinklers on and caused ice to form on the greens. So we were supposed to tee off at 10:57 and didn't get out till 11:25 due to frost. Not a big deal just letting you know what to expect by the way didn't tell me till after I paid .

Hard but fair course
Course was in great shape, particularly for late December. It was very crowded because of the warm day, but marshalls were keeping the pace steady. Even had a cart girl out, which was great. For a 20 handicapper, I found it to be a fair course playing from the whites. There are several holes that are easier and several that are very difficult, which kind of evens things out for my game.

Great bargain and worth the drive.
What a great deal. Very nice facilities. Unlimited range use and all the balls you can hit. Stunning setting with $500k plus homes and Lake Lanier. Bring the wife and drop her at the North Georgia Premium Outlets for some quality shopping. Then head north 5 miles for awesome golf........everyone wins!

Okay, could be a lot nicer.
We were approached by a member of staff asking if we saw range balls on the course, we replied, yes a lot. He appeared confused by this answer and awkwardly hung around for the next hole. After some small talk, he asked a few more questions about range balls. He appeared to be fishing for a conviction we were the guilty party, however, didn’t directly come out and say it.
I didn’t appreciate this as it put a damper on our day; his people and detective skills definitely needed some work.

Greens are struggling to say the least!
The fairways and rough were plenty fine for this time of year, but the greens we're just bad. Lots of rough spots and coated with just a thin layer of sand.

Very nice course
The facilities were nice and some driving range time was included with my round. The course was in great shape except for the greens which had the occasional patch of grassless dirt. Even though these patches should be replaced, I normally tolerate them around the edges of a green. A couple of greens had patches that crept into the middle enough to affect puts less than 10 feet. I did really enjoyed the layout of all the holes. There were a couple of shorter par 4s that had challenging twists to make up for their lack of length and the par 5s were still plenty long for me. Beautiful scenery all over the place with a good amount of water in play and even more in view. Overall, a very nice course.

This course is worth the time to play.
I had a wonderful time. The course was in excellent shape except for the greens, they have had some problems in the recent past and they are working thru them and are getting better all the time. A very nice layout and the people I had the good fortune to play with made it all the more memorable.

course is hilly with lots of different lies and makes you hit lots of different shots (draws, fades etc.)

greens are fast and smooth
I've played Chestatee many times. The greens were the best they have been in many years. Still some bare spots from the hot summer, but overall fast and smooth.

terrific value in this scenic mountain setting
We golfed during fall color changes and it was beautiful. Hilly course with a lot of downhill holes with great views. Course was in excellent shape other than many of the greens may have been victims of some fungus. Lot of putts had to go thru bare rough areas.

Great course to play
I just played this course on Oct 21,2012 for the frist time and man was it nice, but about 3 maybe 4 of the greens where in real bad shape, real bad. As soon as they get this worked out then this course could become a real top ten gem for North East Georgia golfers

beautiful layout, conditions good, greens improving
Chestatee is a beautiful layout in the fall with leaves turning. Greens are recovering from Summer issues and close to great condition. Rest of layout is in excellent shape with solid service from staff.

A few greens need attention. Impossible to putt, unless you like to see your ball bounce a few times.

Greens almost there
Great driving range. 1st hole par 5 sets tone for course. Several blind holes. Local knowledge a plus. Staff working hard to repair blemishes on greens. Other than random blemishes, greens are slow and true.

Enjoyable
Although the course is challenging because of the somewhat hilly terrain, it was easy to play. The tees and greens are not "miles" away from the cart paths which makes it easy and more quickly to get around the course. The setting is beautiful.
Plan to go back often.

Good course with good service
The course is well keep and challenging. In addition, the people are courteous and friendly. That, coupled with Golfnow's pricing makes this an excellent option....despite the forty minute drive.

Great moderate rolling hill course
Bent greens suffer in late summer. Rest of course has a good layout and is fun to play. Late spring or early summer play.
