Steel Canyon Golf Club
Good iron practice
Decent course and good iron work. Good value for price and course conditions.

Great practice course.
This is a great small course for the money and the greens are always in pretty good shape.

Enjoyed the challenge
The course may look fairly easy, but is very deceiving being a links course. I enjoyed the challenge, and definitely going back soon.

Great staff, well kept, awkward location
I would give the course a higher rating, however it's just an awkward location next to the power lines and the layout takes some getting used to. Once you get past the first 4 holes you forget about the power lines (until 9, 10 and 18).
It helps that we went on a beautiful day, but the course was surprisingly very well kept (with the cheaper rates we thought it might be a junkyard, but it was no where near that).
The one glaringly, but fixable, issue was poor course markers. A few locations were a bit confusing even with the map on the score sheet.

You may get lost if you don't watch
The course is really tight between holes and tees. Really confusing around 7,8, 13 & 14. Had a bunch of people coming around the back start to play the front. Greens are really nice, hold and rolled pretty true for a course a lot of duffers play. Rough is a little high and you can lose a ball easily. As evident by the numerous balls eaten by the mowers laying all over the place. All in all, pretty good test for higher handicapper or beginner.

ummm...4 players in 2 carts playing out of 1 bag?!???
This is a course built on an old land fill that can give you some work on your iron game with a variety of par 3's, a few of which have some nice elevation changes.
The main issue I had was that I teed off behind a foursome playing out of 2 carts, only 1 of which had a bag with golf clubs. After 3 holes of this, and not being asked to play through, I called the pro shop from out on the course on hole #4 and told them I was stuck behind 4 players playing out of 2 carts and 1 bag. Pro shop didn't seem like that was any big deal, and said he would "try to come out to see what's gong on." HELLO?! I just told you what's going on - 4 players, 2 carts, 1 bag! What is there to "check out"?
And so, another 3 holes and 45 minutes later, I was still stuck behind 4 players, 2 carts, and 1 golf bag - nobody from the shop came out (even though there were two people working the shop when I checked in). I eventually just drove ahead and played the back 9 in an hour and 15min.
Moral of the story: while we can't do anything about inconsiderate golfers, we can choose not to return to a golf course that has no problem permitting 4 players in 2 carts to play out of 1 bag. I shall not return. Would you?

Short Course for a great savings
Played here a few times and although not overly challenging with only 2 par 5's it is close to home and for the price is hard to beat.

Holes packed together
I only paid about 15.00 for a round and cart here so I can't complain too much. It was much further than I thought from my house and taking 285 and trying to make a 8:00am tee time should have sent a reg flag in my head. Nonetheless I made the trip. The holes are so close together here which makes for less trouble to get yourself into but also less shade. It was scorching that day and beers quickly turned into H20. Not that the rough was overgrown just thick grass that you could lose your ball easily if you didn't have a ten foot radius you knew where it was. No hole was particularly challenging. Proshop was a mom and pop shop with no bar or restaurant. They tried to fire up the forman to get me a hot dog but was unsuccessful. All in all for the price you can't beat it but no high class by any means. Good beginner course
