Saddlebrook - Saddlebrook Course
Course is great . Make sure u can hit a straight ball. Beautifully age course. All most crapped when bought a can pop for 4.50 and that's not including a shot of whiskey!!!!!!

There was no grass on many areas of the fairways and the green were not as good as in the past.

Très beau terrain
un bon terrain toujours bien entretenu Par un personnel très competent

Good pace of play. Fairways in solid condition. Easy rough. Soft, fluffy beach sand in the bunkers. Greens were slow, a bit thin and several had bare, ragged patches. Staff was very friendly but the resort is showing its age. A bit worn like the greens. $9 for a hot dog? Seriously, this place isn't that exclusive. Discounted fees, OK. Was not worth the full price.

This is a fun but challenging course. Driver is not always the best choice off the tee. Greens were in very good shape, for the most part, but there was evidence of recent problems on several. The fairways were in remarkable shape, especially considering the amount of rain the course received during the previous week... a testament to the grounds crew. I was quite fortunate to be able to play this course as a single, able to take my time and enjoy the course as well as the surroundings, and was not held up nor pushed by other golfers... a rare treat indeed. Even so, I played 18 holes in just over 3 and a half hours. All in all, a great experience. And one I will try to repeat in the future.

A Florida standby, but staff excellence for me
This is a fine resort course in good shape, but what made the day for me was the 2 guys in the pro shop. I bought a Hot Deal for the wrong day by mistake, and these guys really bent over backwards to make it work for me, even though it was entirely my fault. (I'm sorry I forgot your names.) It was the last day of my Florida golf trip and it could have been a debacle, but they honored the deal anyway. I've played Saddlebrook before; it was and is a first-class resort all-around.

I understand that during November, Bermuda will get all brown and nasty, but this course was in worse shape than most other Bermuda courses I've played. I regularly have better experiences at military courses of all places, such as NAS Pensacola (well their course is actually pretty fantastic, but if on a low budget that course can be that good, then...). Every green had overgrown grass and rolled very slowly. Readable, but slow as molasses. The tee boxes also required mowing. The fairway grass was not clipped as tight and was not as dense as it should be. I understand it's Bermuda in November, but again, this was bad even compared to other Bermuda courses this time of year.
Saddlebrook has an insane amount of staff, you will always see 2-4 people where you only need 1-2 (pro shop, valet, starter, bag drop...It was overkill for the amount of business they had). If they're gonna maintain that much staff, they should repurpose a lot of them to greens keepers and what not, the course desperately needs the TLC.
Then just a weird thing about the place: it's a time machine. You could swear you'd been transported back to the 80s or something...I felt trapped in a Roger Moore era Bond movie, but without the villains. The facilities were in good shape and all, but it seemed as if there was an effort to maintain everything exactly as how it had been when the place opened. It felt....just weird.

Very confusing resort. Not friendly. Over priced food. Course only average. Expected much more
