Beautiful course & a great staff
This is a well kept course with few water hazards but makes up for them with numerous sand traps. The staff is very friendly and helpful.

Course in very good condition and fun to play.
Enjoyed our round very much because course conditions were good. Play was a little slow, but mainly due to the golfers we were paired with.

Best greens in Florida
Beautiful course, wonderfully maintained, tremendous value compared to nearby courses. Staff was helpful and friendly, and facilities were clean. Variety of tees for every skill level. Carts have GPS with maps and electronic scorecards.

This course did not disappoint
I look forward to playing here every year I come down to St Augustine. for vacation and it did not disappoint. Great greens that made you pay for bad putts with a layout that is fair and a lot of fun to play. The statf are super friendly as well. I will be back next year.

I have come here each spring for the last 5 years and the course is always in great shape!
This course is always in great shape! Fantastic practice facility! Staff is glad to have you at the course and make you feel that they truly appreciate your business. Great course for the money! My friends and I come to St. Augustine every spring to play golf and this course is a must play each year. We play from the white tees so I can't really comment on whether it would be a test for low handicappers, but, I believe it is enjoyable no matter what your skill level happens to be.

Challenging & well maintained
Greens are very good. 6hrs to get around was not ideal. Fortunately had good company. Will be back to take revenge on some challenging holes here. A good (& well maintained) test of golf!

One of the best public courses in the area!
I really like this course. It has a wonderful layout....very imaginative and challenging. I've played it three times and I want to play it some more!

Really quick greens
The course was pretty slow. We were only able to complete our 4 1/2 hour round because a lot of people in front of us dropped out after 9 holes. The starters were really cordial and helpful. I would play the course again, once the grass comes in. It was pretty dry out when we played and it was like hitting off of concrete. The greens were very fast, but it was also hard to hold a shot on the green.

Pleasant experience
Nice course, in good condition, large but fair greens, generous fairways -- doesn't beat you up. Especially good for mid to high handicappers. Large, and many traps. Sand heavy -- stay away from them if you can. Holes lacked distinctive character, but nice anyway. Good driving range and short game practice area. Greens are fast, but fair. Played 3/12/2013. Grass still struggling to grow, but course still in good shape. Recommend.

Fast
First time I played South Hampton. The course is very fast. Loads of roll in the fairway and the greens are extremely quick. Overall there is quite a challenge. Don't be fooled by the wide open fairways. The greens are deadly and will eat you up if you're not careful. Definitely be aggressive off the tee and very careful and deliberate on and around the greens. Enjoy!

this is a wonderful, balanced layout in excellent condition
the course is maintained in superb condition and has an excellent mix of moderate difficulty holes. Great for a mid-handicapper

One of my favorite courses
The course was in excellent shape which is between "Maintained" and "Pristine". The bunkers were in great shape and the greens were well maintained and evenly cut. The tee boxes were in excellent condition and the cart had plenty of pep. We had a lot of practice playing with strong winds but the course is accommodating enough to provide a duffer like me a memorable experience. Look forward to playing there again.

Loved the course
I had never played here before and found just about everything very good. The course itself was in very good shape. I loved the large greens and they were fast and rolling great. The staff was good so no complaints there. If I had one complaint it was that we wanted to get a full meal after playing, finished about 3:30, but the kitchen wasn't open so we found a good restaurant around the corner from the course. We also only saw the beverage cart once throughout our round. Overall very nice and I will be back with more friends.

Very Nice Course
A very nice course. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. A friend and I go to Daytona 500 each year and play golf as well. We have found a course to play every year now. Well maintained course, challenging but not overly so for an average golfer. Recommend this course to anyone that reads.

Maybe the most difficult greens I ever played.
A really nice layout with some very interesting, but playable, holes. My advice is to never be above the hole when putting; very fast, undulating greens make it very difficult to stop a downhill putt. That said, you may enjoy the challenge.

Challenging but fair layout, always in good shape.
South Hampton is one of northern Florida's premier courses. Excellent practice facility, friendly and professional staff, always well maintained. Speed of play on busy days 4 1/4 to 4 1/2 but attractive layouts like this draw more golfters, and it's well worth it.

Very little water but more sand than I needed.
Friendly staff from the bag drop to the dining area. The course is very open and fun to play. Large greens and well maintained. 5 sets of tees so anyone can play. Greenside bunkers are large as are the fairways bunkers. Loved the course and will return the next time we are on our way to Florida. Plus, St . Augustine is a really great place to visit.

Solid layout with good conditions.
Mark McCumber has designed a winner here. This course is very well kept. The layout is very solid and will present you with a number of key decisions to make in course management. A well placed shot is rewarded fairly. A poorly made decision is punished sternly. There are a few holes that require some local knowledge, but in general, prudence will pay it's dividend. For all of the challenges you will face, the novice golfer will still find this course to be a great play from the forward tees. I wish I had the time to go back and play this one again.
