Heron Bay Golf Club
Heron Bay Golf Club is a Platinum-level Member Club with daily fee play and part of the ClubLink family of Clubs.
As you drive down the palm-lined lane which leads to the Heron Bay Golf Club clubhouse, you can feel the excitement that comes over any golfer who is about to test their game against a course that has played host to the finest pros and amateurs in the world.
For six years (1997-2002) the PGA TOUR'S Honda Classic called Heron Bay home, crowning champions Stuart Appleby, Mark Calcavecchia, Vijay Singh, Dudley Hart, Jesper Parnevik and Matt Kuchar.
It now is the permanent site of the prestigious and historic Dixie Amateur, one of the top-ranked amateur tournaments in the world. Past champions include Hal Sutton, Ryuji Imada, Brandt Snedeker, Andy Bean, Bruce Fleisher, Lanny Wadkins, Nolan Henke, Len Mattiace and Parnevik.
When the course opened in 1996 as the TPC at Heron Bay, it was named one of America’s 10 best new public golf courses by Golf Digest. Golf Magazine ranks it one of the top 10 daily-fee courses in Florida. It is home to the Heron Bay Golf Academy, one of the finest practice facilities in South Florida.
Ten-time PGA Tour winner Mark McCumber, a noted golf course architect, was challenged to create a new home for the Honda Classic. In doing so he had to balance the demands of satisfying the best golfers in the world while creating a course that could be enjoyed by the public.
Aesthetically, the course is naturally beautiful, not contrived. By using subtle contours instead of tiers and large mounding, the course fits its surroundings. Water comes into play on only three of the 18 holes. There are no forced carries on the course, making the layout very playable for the less experienced golfer. Wind is still the biggest challenge at Heron Bay. With 5 sets of tees, just be sure to choose the right set for your skill level and don't be afraid to leave the driver in the bag.
The Heron Bay Golf Academy driving range is open every day until 10 p.m.
Heron Bay is adjacent to the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Coral Springs Hotel and Convention Center, providing an ideal venue for visiting golfers taking advantage of stay-and-play packages.
