Heron Bay was formerly TPC at Heron Bay, host of the Honda Classic until 2002. The course was designed by Mark McCumber and opened in 1996 "to challenge and entertain golfers of all skill levels, from amateur to the world's greatest golfers." The course features gently rolling terrain, a network of lakes, over 100 bunkers, multi-tiered tees and greens, and perfectly manicured open fairways. The course is young, so trees are scarce, although hundreds of trees were planted in 1998 and 3 1/2 acres of bunkers were removed to make the course more playable for the non-tour player. Wind is still the biggest challenge at Heron Bay.

The layout of the land at Heron Bay--210 acres of flat, arid and treeless property on the edge of the Florida Everglades--made for a challenging design. With 5 sets of tees, just be sure to choose the right set for your skill level and don't be afraid to leave the driver in the bag. Heron Bay has a lighted driving range open every day until 10pm

Boring Layout / Poor Conditions Played with my father and we didn't have the best time. I would not pay the (discounted) $62 golf now fee to play here. Our biggest complaints were: 1. Layout - Each hole is very similar. Straight with bunkers. Water almost never comes into play. Very forgettable golf holes. 2. Conditions - I imagine the course used to be very nice since it used to host the Honda Classic. Unfortunately now though, the greens were the worst we have played on in the West Palm Beach / Ft. Lauderdale area. Also, if you are uncomfortable getting out of sand this is not the course for you. There are many huge bunkers on every hole. (My Dad found 17 of them!) April 9, 2014
Nice course, surprised at the condition of the greens Well worth the afternoon rate of $24 but the greens were certainly disappointing. Friendly staff although at 3:30 pm I had no idea when it was my turn to head to the first tee as the starter was gone already. Lots of sand shots and a nice layout. It has been many years since i last played the course and the on cart GPS was very helpful. I'll be back at the right price. April 7, 2014
Great Bang for the $$$ Staff was friendly and efficient and course was in great shape considering it's the end of our "busy" season April 5, 2014
good design play this course since many years maintenance used to be better since Club Links bought the course. yesterday, condition was close to be ''poor'' what happened since January? April 3, 2014
Good course to play One of the good I played in Ft. Lauderdale so far. March 30, 2014
as expected played the course when the Honda was still held there. of course its not as nice but the course was in good shape and the price was right March 29, 2014
I was happy with Heron Bay As a senior golfer the course is challenging yet very enjoyable to play. I was in a foursome with 2 younger "dudes" & a woman. We played from 3 different tees and we finished in 4 hours on a very windy morning. March 27, 2014
Really Disappointed! I can't believe this course hosted a PGA Tour event not so many years ago! Greens were spotty and hard, fairways just fair. Maintenance was working hard on the course but it has a long way to go to bring it back to its glory days! Played as a twosome in less then 3 hours because no one was there. I would not recommend this course in its current condition lots of better courses in the area for the same cost! Boring flat course tricked up with a lot of bunkers. It will be my only trip there!
