Heron Bay was formerly TPC at Heron Bay, host of the Honda Classic until 2002. The course was designed by Mark McCumber and opened in 1996 "to challenge and entertain golfers of all skill levels, from amateur to the world's greatest golfers." The course features gently rolling terrain, a network of lakes, over 100 bunkers, multi-tiered tees and greens, and perfectly manicured open fairways. The course is young, so trees are scarce, although hundreds of trees were planted in 1998 and 3 1/2 acres of bunkers were removed to make the course more playable for the non-tour player. Wind is still the biggest challenge at Heron Bay.

The layout of the land at Heron Bay--210 acres of flat, arid and treeless property on the edge of the Florida Everglades--made for a challenging design. With 5 sets of tees, just be sure to choose the right set for your skill level and don't be afraid to leave the driver in the bag. Heron Bay has a lighted driving range open every day until 10pm

Great day Finally a day without rain on Saturday lead to some great conditions Sunday. Greens 1 and 9 are being worked on. Fairways needed to be mowed but that's due to the rain. Can't mow when it's wet. Played in 3 hours. Course looks much better than it did a few months ago. August 25, 2014
Course is not kept up Keep your money to play somewhere else the course is not maintained well multiple greens had plugs. August 24, 2014
Excellent value Course Heron bay continues to be a valuable option for western broward county. Easy acces off of Sawgrass expwy and great rates. I went during a weekday afternoon and played 18 under 3 hrs. The course was wet in some areas and some greens under repair but overall in great condition. Open layout with challenging bunker locations. Good practice facility and friendly staff make it a well rounded golf destiny August 23, 2014
Unimpressed Considering that this course is not normally inexpensive, I was really expecting a lot more. I know that weather has something to do with the condition of the course, it was shoddy at best. The greens were poor, the bunkers mini ponds. Unless I can play this course for 20 or less, I would never go again. I have heard so many good things about this course, but really don't know why. My partner had the same reaction. August 18, 2014
Greens In Terrible Shape Right Now If you like your greens to roll true, DO NOT play this course anytime soon. They are in BAD shape. They added a bunch of squares of grass to the greens, forcing you to take relief should you have to chip/putt through those areas. The rest of the course is in pretty good shape, but, to me, it's all about the condition of the greens. Also, the guy in the pro shop who takes your money ALWAYS gives me flack whenever I book this course through Golfnow. I booked as a single Friday night for a Saturday morning tee time for $25, and the guy asked the other employee there "who's authorizing these prices? this is normally a $49 tee time." He then half-jokingly said that I could walk for $25 or ride for $49. Obviously, I was able to ride for $25, but I don't appreciate feeling like the bad guy just because Golfnow offered cheaper tee times than he would've liked. Take it up with Golfnow, not the customer paying you their hard earned money. He did the same thing once before when I used a BOGO promo code and was able to play for less than $20. The guy's pretty stingy. Anyway, I usually like playing this course, but I wouldn't play here for a while until the greens improve. And if the guy at the pro shop keeps giving me flack every time I try to check-in, I'm going to start avoiding this course altogether (which is a shame). August 18, 2014
Cow Pasture Course in terrible condition.. Turf missing on fairways and greens.Played it when it was TPC...totally different...Stay away! August 12, 2014
Long course with rain drainage problems Course should have been closed. Golf carts tearing up the fairways. Water drainage problems from excessive rain. Seems like they would rather have the fairways destroyed by carts to make a few bucks instead of closing until the water issue has passed. August 7, 2014
Not Bad Not too bad! Greens were a little rough on some holes. Lots of sand traps!! Fun course though. Had some golf cart issues. One cart got a flat, the other cart ran out of batteries athough did play late in the day. Will play again. August 5, 2014
