Venetian Bay Golf Club
WHAT A SURPRISE!!!
Between the construction, bunkers poorly maintained and greens that were worse than any city owned course I've played, well enough said. Maybe I was expecting more based on the pictures.
Course is open and forgiving if you place your shots. You will have to navigate numerous bunkers. Having just a GPS won't work. You need a golf app that will dial you in with hazards, windage and distance. This is not a beginners course. Long drive hitters will love it and the short game and iron players will enjoy. At present there is too much construction and fairway renovation going on.

First off the course is a decent course, it's a cookie cutter design with huge fairway bunkers that can be difficult to play. The issues I had with the course were the staff gave me the feeling that I was lucky to step foot on their course, that it was a high class country club, but it wasn't. The greens were half hard pan half grass, the bunkers were too much to maintain so they filled them with pine straw and the $2 coffee was a make it yourself out of a key rig machine, and when I asked where to get water to fill the machine, the lady in the clubhouse told me "I think there's a water fountain outside". VERY ACCOMODATING"

waste of time and money
The greens. if u can call them that, were terrible. We should have asked for a refund. The layout is ok but I wont be back until I see a review that the greens are very good. I'll wait a year or more.

Good course but terrible starter staff
The greens are in bad condition but my major problem is the starter staff. They will not let you go early even when the tee is wide open. They have even questioned why My group is playing fast even when no other group is in front of us. I suggested that we know how to be ready to play and sub four hours rounds are expected.
I will not be going back to this course even though I like the lay out and the facility. They are just poorly managed!

Save Your Money...really Save your money
Save your money. This course is in horrific condition. To begin with the Greens are in terrible shape. It seems as though most are affected with some kind of disease but even those that are ok are still in bad condition, unless you like to putt on shag carpet that has bumps and marks.
And for the Staff, well nobody seems to know how to be friendly. Especially the starters. Can you imagine being told that you are playing too fast, with no groups in front of you. One week we were asked to go out in front of our tee time in front of foursomes because we were a twosome and the next week we went out in front of the same foursomes and were repramanded at the turn that we were playing too fast and should have not gone out in front of these groups. I tried to make a tee time and the best I got was 8:36 AM. When I got to the course at 7:30 AM I was the first person there besides the staff. Not one group went off before a little after 8 AM. What about all the tee times between 7:15 and 8:00 AM.
Lastly not sure who is taking care of the fairways and bunkers but fairways were not manicured and had weeds in sections. And the bunkers were half Sand and half Pine Straw with ornamental grass. The course has a lot of nerve advertising on their website that the course is in Great Shape. Save your money and find another course to play.

not ready to play
THIS COURSE IS PATHETIC. GREENS HAVE NO GRASS, WATER IN BUNKERS, PINE STRAW TAKING PLACE OF SAND IN BUNKERS , NEW SOD EVERY WHERE, PLACE UNDER CONSTRUCTION..THIS NEEDS TO BE REMOVED FROM GOLF NOW FOR AT LEAST 4 MONTHS. I'M TICKED OFF, I SPENT 61 BUCKS FOR THAT....

Disappointment - This course has fallen far in the past 6 months
I live in the area, so i have played Venetian many times before. I have never seen this course in this bad of condition. Every green has large bare spots that can't be avoided and a majority of the tee boxes barren of any living grass.
I know they are changing some of the bunkers and improving drainage around the course, but this should not cause the poor conditions of the greens and tee boxes.
I will call the pro-shop before scheduling another round to check if these terrible conditions still apply. :(
I will be surprised if this makes the website, but its all true.

Nice Layout, very poor conditions
This course has a lot of potential, however we caught it on a bad season (March). Fairways were all veriagraded, and brown. The greens were shaggy and REALLY REALLY slow. Kudos to them for dropping prices and putting notes on the carts to "excuse our appearance while we complete maintenance". I felt bad in a way for the facility, but it seems like they need help in the greens-keeping department. we played several other local courses and the conditions at other courses close by were way better. I'll give it another chance next year but they need to get it together!
