If you like bunkers...
...you will love this course. I did a fair job of avoiding them until about hole 14 and had a great time. You must think before hitting your tee shots on most holes to determine if a driver is really a good idea or not. Many narrow landing areas bordered by water and or bunkers make for a bit of planning. Use the cart mounted GPS, it is your friend. The greens are consistent and well maintained. Not exactly the smoothest but they roll true and watch the grain as well as the break so you can plan speed accordingly. Fun course, great views, challenging layout, and good staff.

Nice playable course
The course was in great condition and though the parking lot was busy, the course itself was not. The mustang course is very playable with little trouble. I find this course one of my favorites as it can be "easy" if you are playing well and it gives you plenty of room for error if you are not. I don't think its worth the $100+ they charge but if you are patient and can find a deal, its one of my favorites in the area.

Flamingo in much better condition then Mustang.
I'm a 8 hdcp. Played nine on Mustang then went over to Flamingo. Better shape and more challenging. They plan on redoing the greens on Mustang soon per the starter.
Very friendly staff. Greens on Flamingo were excellent. Very true, fast and would hold.

Excellent greens
Well protected greens and fairway bunkers provide a challenging test of skill.

Nice layout - not worth it if paying full price
Played the Mustang as part of a five day golf trip in Naples. Liked it better than Arrowhead and Spanish Wells, but not in the same league as Raptor Bay or Old Corkscrew. I believe I paid around $80 on a "hot deal," and believe (in Florida dollars) it was worth it for that rate. Anybody paying $170 for this course as they often charge needs to get their head checked. It is a typical resort course, fairly open layout with houses built in to the development, but generally they are at a comfortable distance from the holes. The holes are well designed and greens are fast. Overall course conditions were average and mid-level for the courses I mentioned above. Not the most "lush" course I played, there are certainly thinner areas, particularly the "rough" although that is not a fair word to use. All-in-all, a nice track for the money, just don't get caught paying full price.

Mediocre at best
Not bad, but could be a lot better. Biggest beef is pace of play. 5 hr round and waited on every hole. Decent layout that's fair, but challenging for this 16 index (shot 94 from back tees). Conditions were a bit on the rough side. A bit dried out other than the fairways and greens. $100 through GN was ok for the money, but probably won't be back.

Course is always well maintained.
lots of water -- some hole have a long carry over water to the green. A good challenge for a good golfer but my wife played and most par 4's were not designed for a shorter hitter.
March 27, 2013
The amount of time it took to play was horrible.
Our tee time was 11:29.At 4:30 ,five (5) hours later we gave up on the16th hole.
This is ridiculous in and of itself, but considering the price,I can't believe they wouldn't manage tee times and pace of play. They clearly could care less.
We won't be back.

Better value is available elsewhere.
Hard to get excited about a 5 hour round and waiting on every shot. They are putting way too many people out on the course.
March 22, 2013
Really enjoyed the course. Good shape, off on time, no delay.
Good course for beginners or advanced. Nice folks. Variety of holes.
March 20, 2013
The bunkers are numerous to make it more challenging
It was a great course. Only thing is that we were a twosome. The pro should make foursomes to speed play and to make it more enjoyable. There was a very slow twosome in front of us and a twosome behind us. Most courses make foursomes!

challenging rtj sr gc
challenging yet enjoyable trek through neighborhoods of lely resort. best public course in south naples/marco island area.

GPS on carts, excellent playing conditions.
Played the Mustang course and had great time. This was one of the few courses I've played that had GPS on the carts. This is a first-class course.

Consistently Good Value
Both courses at Lely are always well maintained, and provide a good challenge for any level golfer. Staff is cordial, and you get good value for your money as long as you are not paying their rack rate.

Great course, play is too slow.
Course is a very nice track. Need rangers to speed up play. Way too slow even for a resort course! Would love to play it in 4 hours but not 5 1/2.
March 14, 2013
Great Conditions Greens not super fast like rest of fl.
Over all great course Greens were awsome fast but not unfair. Back nine was more of target golf off the tee fairly short from green tees, which was 6600 yards.

Lee Trevino should not design golf courses
The golf holes were quite strange from a design perspective. The course played longer and more difficult than the scorecard indicates. The pin placements were almost exclusively place over tight bunkering with a rising slope on the greenside of the bunker thus making the shot to the green lengthier than the actual distance due to extra carry over the heightened bunker. Since the course was a little bizarre and difficult in nature, it took over 5 hours to play this course behind slow groups. There is no reason for a round to last this long!!!!!

very nice golf experience.
played the lely flamingo course. overall very good experience. no issues with the staff or the condition of the golf course. pace of play was good. greens rolled nice, but had to get used to them being very firm and not receptive to incoming shots. played from the white tees and thought it was fair.

Wonderful course exceptionally friendly service
Great course, wide selection of tees makes it enjoyable for many difference levels of golfers, friendly and helpful staff, and great practice facility. If you are a low handicapper looking for a challenge you might prefer the sister course (The Flamingo). The food and service at the Sam Snead Grille is excellent.
March 6, 2013
One of the better courses in the area
Very nice venue with all appropriate amenities - clubhouse, range, and very good service. With each course having 250 rounds per day they are in very good condition.
March 6, 2013
Great clubhouse and lay out.
I played $80 which was high put the cart had GPS which made up for it. Very nice course and staff was very helpful, locker room with showers. A few of the greens showed a little wear and had sand on spots.
March 4, 2013
Typical Florida golf with challenging approaches. Playable greens in great shape.

This course has excellent fairways but only slightly better than average greens
I played the Lely Flamingo course from the green tees (6500+ yds) and found it to be very playable for someone of my skill level. It's challenging yet not overly so and I had an enjoyable round. The greens, however, were not to my liking because they were hard making it very difficult to stop the ball on shots into the green even with high lofted clubs. The greens were also very fast and it took several holes to adjust to their speed. Most greens, however, were very flat with little break which helped offset their quickness. I've noticed that other reviewers panned the staff saying that they were discourteous and not helpful. I found the opposite to be true. This was my first time playing at Lely and everyone from the bag boys to the starter to the clubhouse staff made the process easy for me. They explained everything, answered my questions, and made me feel welcome. Golf in South Florida before noon during the high season is expensive. There are few public courses in the Naples/Marco area and this is the first I've played so I really have no accurate way to judge value but my on-line comparison would indicate Lely Flamingo to be better than average.

Nice place to play
Played both flamingo and mustang. Enjoyed flamingo more
Lots of water on mustang. Flamingo in better shape but both courses were great. Very different venues
February 23, 2013
Definitely will play again
Excellent practice facility included in rate. Would only play at the early morning rate at about $80. Mustang course is great to play first few rounds of the year. Its open enough that on most holes you can get away with misses. If you are being aggressive, you are going to need to be pretty accurate. A fun course, would definitely play again at this rate.
February 20, 2013
Not worth the money; overpriced.
From the moment we arrived the staff was indifferent. We had to unload our own clubs and find a cart. No one directed us anywhere. The range was fine, as was the starter once we found him. The course was relatively easy. They need an intermediate men's tee on the Mustang course between 6000 and the 6700 yd. tee markers. Greens were really poor -- speed was inconsistent and there was a lot of invasive grasses on them.
February 17, 2013
Hard greens, tough pin placements
The course was difficult, with hard greens that did not easily accept chip shots without much roll. Overall the course was in so-so shape with fairways that were not well manicured. Next time I would play somewhere else.

MUCH WATER MAKES FOR A GOOD CHALLENGE
Mustang Course. A challenging round of golf. Water hazards come into play on many holes and there is a need for some accuracy. Course in good condition and busy.
