Rated 5 out of 5 by casey030 don't let Old Corkscrew "bug" you.
its located inland so there's no breeze and during summer, play as early as possible and bring bug spray, area loaded with all kinds of deep biting bugs. Summer rains means lots of water on fairways and cart paths so be prepared for cart path only rules. Bring plenty to drink, limited access on course. Summer green fees are real bargain, staff very nice but few rangers around on a weekend, we were held up for an extra hour by very very slow group in front of us, very frustrating w/no course rangers to be found during our 18 holes.

I love this course. Drove over with some friends from the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area one week to play and two weeks later we came back. Beautiful, but will kick your butt if you are too aggresive. Pretty well layed out and the greens and fairways are great. I will continue to come over to play this course. The staff is amazing. Very welcoming and I was amazed that they remembered me. This is a must play.

Rated 3 out of 5 by u00000620290 A lot of rain
I only got to play front nine(twice). I was offered a rain check to play back nine. Course had received a lot of rain the night before and back nine was closed. It would have been nice to have option of playing back nine holes that were still playable. I live in Michigan and only had that day to play. Great way station on front nine between holes 3&7. Ice dispenser and cold water. It was mid 90s when I played course so water was a must. Course was very wet and cart paths only rule was in effect so no roll out on golf shots. Greens were a little slower than expected but rolled pretty smooth. We checked on food prices. Burger and chips (not fries) $ 11.95. Save your money go to a little place up the road called THE STORE. Looks rough on outside -- locals run it and food is great. Got a tip from my new son in law(former local).I asked about getting some kind of discount to play back nine in future but staff declined because I used Golfnow to purchase round. Guess I got toooo good of a deal. I heard several other groups grumbling because they did not receive notice that back nine was closed and they had traveled a long way to get there (those people left-not sure they will be coming back). Very few cars in parking lot when we left at noon. I suspect a lot of golfers did not stay to play just front nine. I drove 45 minutes to get there and was not sure when I would (if ever) get back. Bring bug spray....... Lots of Mosquitos. Not sure about reccomending course for play. Mixed emotions.

This was the third time I've played this course and quit frankly the last. Go play Copperhead in Lehigh Acres for better course conditions and value for the dollar. I realize the greens are tougher than most courses primarily because of poor conditions, not one true roll the whole 18. Plus weeds, brown patches and soft spots. Get it together guys! Also, take your bug spray!!!! Mosquitoes as big as a small bird.

I had played here several years ago, and was very disappointed. For all the hype, the course was not that good for several reasons, primarily, condition. This time however, despite some incredible recent rain, I found the course in excellent shape. The holes are very challenging. Short part 4? Expect a tiny and undulating green. Long par five, expect reasonable landing areas, options for go or no go, and larger playable greens. All in all, well designed, but very deserving of it's very high course rating and slope. Quite a few semi blind shots. Helped to be playing with members. Not a good course for beginners or really, anyone not in control of their game. Greens seemed course but were a reasonable speed. GPS on carts is a great help. Staff were great. All in all, a fine experience.

Excellent course, but several days of rain prior to playing course, so some areas retained water.

If you want to know where you stand in the golf world,
this is the place. Jack shows no mercy, you must be able to control ball flight and spin, greens have a lot of turns. Course superintendent can be demonic with pin placements.
I'm still licking my wounds, but can't wait to try it again It's a lot fun.

Old Corkscrew is the best golfcourse I have played. In the summer it is the best value for your money in the winter season it can get a little pricey. But you can always find a good rate on Golf Now. The course is fabulous in layout and the greens are true and with the usual undulations we have come to know from a Nicklaus design. The scenery is a walk through the heart of the Everglades. Do not miss it!! Keep it on the fairway and use your Fairway Woods or Long Irons off the tee on some par 4's and 5's.
