Good course for the money
With spring just starting to green things up the course looks pretty good. I would recommend trying this place out and I will go back to play.

would recommend it only if you can book it at a reduced price, greens are in awfull shape and low handicap players would not enjoy playing a round of golf here-mus say views on back nine are fantastic-

Can't see how they can charge that much for that course.
This course is in need of some repair. The fairways, greens and cart paths are all in need of some attention. The tee boxes are pretty beat up. The cart paths will loosen fillings in places. For what they charge at 1:47 p.m. on a Thursday, the place should be in better shape.

Love playing Cove Cay
Cove Cay is a beautiful golf course, but it needs work tee boxes definitely need attention as well as the greens. But overall I always enjoy playing here.

Course needs work but bay views are worth a round
I played this course on March 22nd during the high season in Florida. It had gotten a 4 star rating in golfnow and the reviews raved about the bay views so I was eager to try it out. The course is not in good condition - the fairways are rough and not well maintained, the bunkers are in even worse shape. The greens, surprisingly, were in decent shape however. It is true that the views on the back nine are great and for that reason I am glad that I played the course. But frankly, I find the layout too gimmicky and eventually got rather annoyed during the round. I don't mind being challenged during my round of golf - in fact I want some challenge to keep it interesting. This course layout however seemed to focus on adding difficulties that were not necessary.

Greeens very fast, but fair. water is on 15 of the holes and course is short but tight.
This course is short, but you must hit it straight. Water on 15 of the 18 holes. For $40 its worth the money.

Great View
Fantastic views of in land bay from some of the back nine holes. Had to wait longer than we should have because of the group ahead taking to much time on the greens. Great shots rewarded but watch for the water. Greens were fast. Got on the course quickly because I was a single.

Nice course
Well organized starting, very cordial folks. Good pace of play, well maintained course, greens good, roll well. Good variation in holes, some easy, some difficult, long, short. Pleasure to play. Only negative - never have been a fan of a par 3 as the finishing hole, bit of a let down. Other than this, go play it, you;ll enjoy it.

Good value
Played in under 4 hours. Everyone was nice. Not difficult unless your from up north and haven't played in a couple of months like me.

Good course for the price
I have never really liked this course, not because of it's shape or difficulty, but because it seems to have hazards on approaches to many holes. You can't run the ball up on most greens, you have to fly it. And for those of us who don't have the ability to spin the ball, it makes it difficult to hold greens. I would recommend it to low handicap golfers but not high handicap ones.

Enjoyable course with bay views.
Relatively short course in good condition. Greens were quite firm but fast and putted true. Fairways were cut tight. Rough was thin even sparse in spots so you were not punished for straying. Lots of water. Back nine had several holes right along the bay. We looked over the edge on 17 and saw several manta rays feeding along the sea wall. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Overall good value.

Great value. 4 tees. Good flexibility for all skill levels.
I have played this course many times. It is fairly challenging in layout and yet fair.
Fairways are green and well maintained.
Greens are well kept.
Staff is efficient and polite.
Plenty of parking.
About the only complaint -they used to have fresh water stations in several locations (I avoid alcohol while playing). Not this time.
Overal - great value.

This course has many challenges but is fair.
This course is the best golf course that we have played since arriving in the Tampa area. This also was the best value for the money paid.

Nice course -- a little slow.

Beautiful scenery, great layout!
Great deals on GolfNow, don't let this one pass by. Maintain fairly well, only set back was the greens being too bumpy. Greens speeds were average so no complaints. Fun course to go low, back tees are only 6,000 yrds.

a round worth while
the course layout is unique for such a short course with its doglegs and water hazards, undulating greens and well placed bunkers. A challenge to some degree for the novice and an excellent exercise round for experienced golfer. The greens could use a tender loving touch but I imagine the conditions are from a tough Summer of rain and use. Try it, you'll enjoy your round.

A very enjoyable course to play. Just keep it straight. The greens were true.
The course is very playable and challenging with many beautiful veiws. Can't get bored with similar holes. People were courtious and polite.

Poor condition. In need of TLC
This course is in need of TLC. The fairways are in very poor condition, the grass being very scarce. There is too much weeds instead of quality turf.
There is very little grass on the greens and they are bumpy. The greens need to be rolled and seeded. The fairways need to be seeded and treated for weeds.
We have played this course a few times a year for the last six years and this is the worse we have seen it. It is very picturesque but as far as quality of golf, poor.
We had a decent round so our score is not influencing our comments. We are happy that we did not pay full price to play it.

Had a great time at Cove Cay. Course played well, had plenty of players on the course but no waiting. and was in good condition. Can't wait to play again.

Best Golf Course in Clearwater/St Petersburg Region
Pinellas County is not blessed with beautiful or challenging golf courses ... lets face it ... Tampa/Brooksville is King in Golf Courses in our Region however their is a little surprise off US19 near East Bay in Clearwater ?? oh yes my friend COVE CAY ... I love this course and I play World Woods and Saddlebrook alot . Cove Cay is the ONLY course I will play in St Petersburg/Clearwater region . Beautiful course and it is LONG !! ... play Cove Cay if you have to play in the Clearwater/St Petersburg area because you will thank me that I found this jewel in a region that is sadly lacking Golf Courses that are challenging and beautiful and on the water (Tampa Bay) ...see my picture ... #1 in Clearwater/St Petersburg !!
