World Woods Golf Club - Rolling Oaks Course
Not worth the money or the travel from Tampa to get there
It's built in the 80s they never took care of the club house, the landscaping around the course is bad, the cart paths are broken, the greens are grainy and hard pack, the bunkers are overfilled and super soft. It's cart path only bc of over seeding without a discount. Course was worth it 15 years ago but not now! Seriously you can't buy a can of paint to clean up even the doors? The course needs epic amount of work to get healthy again. Courses in this region are not cared for like Orlando resort courses for the same price

In need of tlc
I have played Rolling Oaks many times over the last 7 years. This latest round left me somewhat disappointed with the general condition of the course. On at least 2 occasions my ball landed in someone else's fairway divot - very annoying! In short, the course has been overplayed and is in need of some tlc.

The course was in excellent shape. Afternoon play was slow toward the end of the round. Food and beverage operations need examination. Seems to be understaffed.

Course great/Rangers and Starers, not so much
Played Rolling Oaks as Pine Barrens was closed for over seeding. Our 3 some played 36 holes on a trip we planned months ago. The day would have been great had it not been for the power hungry Rangers. We were the first group of the day and upon arrival at the first tee we see 20 or so golfers. The starter moved us ahead of the group and things were good to go. After 5 or 6 holes, of which no other group ever caught up to us, the "ranger" approached us and says "as of now you guys are 10 minutes behind schedule".. We say ok and keep playing. 2 holes later he says" you are now 15 minutes behind and you need to pick up the pace, the course is starting to back up behind you." Again, the closest the group behind us ever got to our 3 some(there were all 4 somes behind us) was on the tee when we were on the green on the par 4s..
If we were the ones backing things up, I would have been fine with his comments, but to address our group twice when we clearly never held anyone up was just rude and ignorant on his part. Ruined my day as I felt rushed they rest of the way as he was constantly driving by us..
We had lunch there, portions were small and I asked for a Hot Roast Beef sandwich, and it was a cold cut sandwich..the waitress was polite and took it back to have it reheated, it came out blackened on the outsides and still cold in the middle with the cheese still not melted, wings were small, and dry and the beers we were brought were in cans and we were not given glasses.
.. Our 2nd round was slow. We went to the first tee, to check in, you cant even get a score card here until you check in with the starter.. The starter told us we would follow the 3 some on the tee ...A twosome came up after us and jumped in front of us in line, the starter says "they re gonna go in front of you, they play here every Monday"....So its a 3 some, the 2 some he let in front of us, our 3 some and then another 2 some behind us...Waiting on every hole for 18 holes..
2 guys at the blocked off cart drop, that your are extremely forbidden from taking the carts out to the parking lot, looked at their watches as we pulled up, asked if anyone was behind us, never offered to unload our carts or give any help..They just started counting cars in the parking lot...
The course is very serene, zero houses on the entire property and its very peaceful and a natural golfing experience, turkeys, 2 different kinds of squirrels, hawks(that we saw try to scoop up one of the gray squirrels).. The fairways are nice, bunkers well taken care of, only one green out of the 18 wasn't in perfect condition...The staff was friendly except for the Ranger. There seems to be a "good ole boy" vibe in the whole place..You get a lot of long looks if you under the age of 50 as if you don't belong here. And if you are a local and possibly retired, you seem to get special treatment, But the course itself is amazing as is the Pine Barrens course when I played it a few years ago..Great practice facility as well, short course, practice course and a circular driving range and putting course as well...If you don't mind the uncomfortable looks and the rudeness from The Ranger, you will enjoy the golf part of the venue.

Another excellent outing
Course was in great shape, even with nearly a week of heavy raining.

worth the drive
Both courses are in great condition. They have been pounded with rain and are both still really nice. I highly recommend World Woods. Rolling Oaks is my favorite of the two.

always worth the drive
Fairways and greens in excellent condition. This is a top notch facility which is always worth the trip from Clearwater. This course challenges you from tee to green. You need to pay close attention to pin placements because the undulations can produce a three putt quite easily.
