The Dunes is an award-winning Arthur Hills-designed layout built among the unique terrain in the sand hills of West Central Florida. Arthur Hills utilized and expanded the existing weather-worn sand dunes, terrain and Pine Valley-like views to create a golf experience you won't soon forget. Dramatic elevation changes, forced carries and large, undulating greens provide all levels of golfers a challenge to remember.

The excellently maintained playing surfaces include 419 Bermuda grass on the fairways and roughs while the greens feature Pike Creek tifdwarf native grasses. Local fauna provides a rough natural look in the out lying areas while the playing surfaces are impeccably groomed and maintained.

Great Layout Played this course maybe 10 years ago, the condition of the fairways and greens indicate they are lacking the funds to keep it up. Layout is great all that is needed is for an investor to purchase it.. It was only 3 groups of golfers that we saw and that was when we finished the 1st 9 holes, so course is wide open. Again this is the reason there should be a Florida rate only so that the courses continue to have funding year round. April 26, 2015
Unplayable I've never done a a golf course review before, but I feel compel to let you know that this course is in such poor conditions, it is not worth the time, not to mention the green fee. i've played this course when conditions were better, and is a very challenging and fun to play, It is very unfortunate that management has let it get this bad. Disappointed. Getting bad again Played a month or so ago and the greens were nice on the front but the back had three greens that were tore up. Now the whole back nine greens are eaten up. The fairways are always rough but playing Lift, clean, place you can manage. The tee boxes are getting worse as well. I was second group off at 8 am and I only saw one maintenance worker which means they don't appear to be doing anything to fix the problem. I only paid $28 but I'd rather pay $40 and play World Woods as there summer rates are getting lower. It pains me to write this review because I've been playing this course since 89 and I love the layout and serenity. I must ask: SERENITY NOW, SERENITY NOW!! April 6, 2015
courteous ground crew Grounds crew was very courteous. Shut down equipment when ever anyone was near. March 28, 2015
Excellent layout, poor condition. This course has great potential but is suffering from serious neglect. The greens were in especially poor condition. I love the course but if the condition continues to deteriorate it will become unplayable. Needs an infusion of money and attention. Wish it weren't so. March 25, 2015
condition has deteriated Recent outbreak of "dollar spots" on greens coupled with poor fairways make this course enjoyable at this time. Layout and beauty of course remain excellent. March 21, 2015
Best conditioned public course in these parts. Great course as always. Greens, fairways and tees all in good shape just prior to Ocala Open. March 4, 2015
Unrealized Potential The layout of the holes is exceptional with quality shot values throughout the course. Unfortunately course conditions need improvement. Although it isn't pure golf by playing preferred lies, it is prudent at the Dunes given the sparse growth of grass in the fairways. More importantly, the greens need significant attention as a fungus has infected many of them and is overtaking the Bermuda grass to the point of almost making reading the greens correctly inconsequential to holing putts. I played the Dunes about a month ago and the greens were a little better then, so it appears that the fungus issue is advancing. Too bad because the challenging course design could be a treat to play everyday if course conditions were better. March 3, 2015
