The Dunes is an award-winning Arthur Hills-designed layout built among the unique terrain in the sand hills of West Central Florida. Arthur Hills utilized and expanded the existing weather-worn sand dunes, terrain and Pine Valley-like views to create a golf experience you won't soon forget. Dramatic elevation changes, forced carries and large, undulating greens provide all levels of golfers a challenge to remember.

The excellently maintained playing surfaces include 419 Bermuda grass on the fairways and roughs while the greens feature Pike Creek tifdwarf native grasses. Local fauna provides a rough natural look in the out lying areas while the playing surfaces are impeccably groomed and maintained.

Good value The course was good but somewhat dry due to summer conditions. It is fairly challenging but for the money I paid I was pleased. August 25, 2014
Course Condition The greens were in very good condition. The fairways were not that great, but okay. The sand traps, of which there are some on every hole, were in poor condition, not full of weeds, but not very well kept with many rain drainage gullies not filled in. The tee boxes were okay, but not great by any means! The rough was poor a few places, but not the worst. Otherwise, the course is kind of challenging and somewhat scenic. There was only one water hole and that was a parallel lake along side of a par 4 hole. I enjoyed the day until the 17th hole when a short rain showed up. Didn't last long as I was able to finish that hole and the 18th with no rain. The course doesn't seem to be very well played and thus easy to get a tee time at almost any time, at least at this time of year. August 15, 2014
good long course really liked the course, layout. was a little long for my game, big hitters will love it. August 11, 2014
A little sad. Not worth the drive or the money (at any price). My reviews are generally pretty forgiving, and I don't like to be negative about any round of golf. Unfortunately there is very little positive to say about The Dunes in Brooksville. We only met one staff member, and she was working the desk, the beverage cart and the little restaurant, and she seemed nice enough. The golf course itself is in the worst shape of any I have played in the area. It is almost like it has been closed, and they reopened without putting any effort into making it playable. They have a sign saying they are under new management, so this could actually be the case. The fairways have very little grass, and they are quite bumpy. The greens are very long, and they have a lot of weeks growing in them. The clubhouse is pretty spartan, and the pro shop has almost no merchandise in it. If they are still in business next year (I would be a little surprised), you might give them a try, but keep your expectations low. We played very inexpensively through our Golf Now booking, and we both agreed it was not worth driving there to play for free. Having said all this, and giving you fair warning, I wish them the best, and hope they can make a go of it. I hate to see any golf course go away because people depend on it for their income. If you want to make a contribution to their future success, by all means give The Dunes some of your business, just don't come away mad, just a little sad. August 11, 2014
The Dunes This place has been thru the ringer tis past yr. 1st time in 8 yrs. I played here. Condition not that good, but foe the price, I will be back. They are getting better by the day August 5, 2014
Sad! Great layout for sure! The condition of the course was terrible. Got a great rate and would play again. It is sad that the amount of play does not support the maintenance needed to keep it in good shape. Hope things turn around. A real gem of a layout! August 3, 2014
Pleasantly Surprised Greens were in much better condition than expected since the course was closed for a while. Fairways had some bad spots but easily corrected by playing preferred lies. The sand was quite good. Well worth the discounted price to play August 1, 2014
Striving for improvement Last played this course in the late 1980's to early 90's. Back then it was in awesome shape. I saw pictures from last year of four foot high weeds covering the fairways. A great deal of improvement has been made since then, but still needs some work. Great value and challenging. Enjoyed my round. July 30, 2014
