The Dunes is an award-winning Arthur Hills-designed layout built among the unique terrain in the sand hills of West Central Florida. Arthur Hills utilized and expanded the existing weather-worn sand dunes, terrain and Pine Valley-like views to create a golf experience you won't soon forget. Dramatic elevation changes, forced carries and large, undulating greens provide all levels of golfers a challenge to remember.

The excellently maintained playing surfaces include 419 Bermuda grass on the fairways and roughs while the greens feature Pike Creek tifdwarf native grasses. Local fauna provides a rough natural look in the out lying areas while the playing surfaces are impeccably groomed and maintained.

Best conditioned public course in these parts. Great course as always. Greens, fairways and tees all in good shape just prior to Ocala Open. March 4, 2015
Unrealized Potential The layout of the holes is exceptional with quality shot values throughout the course. Unfortunately course conditions need improvement. Although it isn't pure golf by playing preferred lies, it is prudent at the Dunes given the sparse growth of grass in the fairways. More importantly, the greens need significant attention as a fungus has infected many of them and is overtaking the Bermuda grass to the point of almost making reading the greens correctly inconsequential to holing putts. I played the Dunes about a month ago and the greens were a little better then, so it appears that the fungus issue is advancing. Too bad because the challenging course design could be a treat to play everyday if course conditions were better. March 3, 2015
A Wee Bit More of the Green! Have played The Dunes many times (+25) over my 25 years here in the Tampa Bay area. It is one of my favorite course layouts, only a few homes on the property and you never see other players while your on your own hole. Rates have always been reasonable -especially in the winter- and the staff is great. Because of the financial pressures of the past few years their upkeep on the fairways has sufferred and that is the only bad thing. March 3, 2015
Good value overall. The course is back in decent shape. Range is nice, greens are good and tee boxes are good. The fairways are pretty rough and a few greens on the back are ate up. Overall, it is worth the money and the drive. March 3, 2015
get what you pay for The greens rolled out best in the area. Not shag carpet like courses in the area. Fairways were not over seeded and extremely thin plus rough riding. Course layout was good. Good choice this time of year every couple years. Fairways may be decent later in April? March 1, 2015
do not play no grass on fairways hard aS a rock very buggey got eaten up the people that work there in the club house are very unpleasant and rude would not play again February 28, 2015
Challenging layout Great course layout, very challenging Grass in fairways not very good this time Of year. Greens were in good condition And just Sadistic to Putt on, the most Elavatuon change on the greens that I have Played in this area I reaaly enjoy this course And will have to play it again. Where is the grass? The golf course has an excellent layout with many difficult and interesting holes. However there is hardly any grass on the fairways. For most of your shots from the fairways you need to move your ball to find something green to hit from, and if or the most part it is a weed. Watering only seems to happen on the greens and a two foot apron around the greens. It would be a great course with the fairways in even in average condition. Bring a mat or a roll of sod and you will enjoy your game. February 25, 2015
