The Dunes is an award-winning Arthur Hills-designed layout built among the unique terrain in the sand hills of West Central Florida. Arthur Hills utilized and expanded the existing weather-worn sand dunes, terrain and Pine Valley-like views to create a golf experience you won't soon forget. Dramatic elevation changes, forced carries and large, undulating greens provide all levels of golfers a challenge to remember.

The excellently maintained playing surfaces include 419 Bermuda grass on the fairways and roughs while the greens feature Pike Creek tifdwarf native grasses. Local fauna provides a rough natural look in the out lying areas while the playing surfaces are impeccably groomed and maintained.

ONCE GREAT COURSE GOES TO POT I played this course several years ago right after it was remodeled and it was great! I was surprised to see it offered for 10 bucks on golf now, but it was a last minute tee time and it appeared they were going to hook me up with someone as the time was good for only one or two players. I got there early enough to hit a few balls off the dirt at the driving range, then played three holes by myself before I turned around and left. the fairways were poor and the greens had what appeared to be st Augustine grass growing on them. If I had paid 25 I would have demanded my money back! October 14, 2014
All things considered... Not too bad. Fun layout if you like links style golf with lots of waste areas. Challenging course, plenty long from the back tees. Conditions are marginal right now but could be worse. A few bad spots on the greens. October 14, 2014
The Dunes is Back!!! I have been playing golf at The Dunes for the past 16 years. I have seen the course in it's best and very worse condition. This is easily one of the best course layouts in the state of Florida, and in my opinion the best Arthur Hills design I have played. I was heartbroken to hear the course was closed due to insufficient funding, and that it had become completely unrecognizable. Some friends and I decided to give it a chance, and boy are we glad we did! It isn't perfect, but worth waaay more than the $16 each we payed to play. Our hats are off to the management staff for doing a spectacular job of bringing this hidden gem back to the form it deserves. Can't wait to come back! October 6, 2014
greens and fairways are in great shape people aren't aware of what a great deal this coarse is. I love getting the tee time I want an always a great price for this coarse. We played a two man scramble from the back tees and shot 8 under. Green are putting true and the fairways are in good shape September 28, 2014
Good value The course was good but somewhat dry due to summer conditions. It is fairly challenging but for the money I paid I was pleased. August 25, 2014
Course Condition The greens were in very good condition. The fairways were not that great, but okay. The sand traps, of which there are some on every hole, were in poor condition, not full of weeds, but not very well kept with many rain drainage gullies not filled in. The tee boxes were okay, but not great by any means! The rough was poor a few places, but not the worst. Otherwise, the course is kind of challenging and somewhat scenic. There was only one water hole and that was a parallel lake along side of a par 4 hole. I enjoyed the day until the 17th hole when a short rain showed up. Didn't last long as I was able to finish that hole and the 18th with no rain. The course doesn't seem to be very well played and thus easy to get a tee time at almost any time, at least at this time of year. August 15, 2014
good long course really liked the course, layout. was a little long for my game, big hitters will love it. August 11, 2014
A little sad. Not worth the drive or the money (at any price). My reviews are generally pretty forgiving, and I don't like to be negative about any round of golf. Unfortunately there is very little positive to say about The Dunes in Brooksville. We only met one staff member, and she was working the desk, the beverage cart and the little restaurant, and she seemed nice enough. The golf course itself is in the worst shape of any I have played in the area. It is almost like it has been closed, and they reopened without putting any effort into making it playable. They have a sign saying they are under new management, so this could actually be the case. The fairways have very little grass, and they are quite bumpy. The greens are very long, and they have a lot of weeks growing in them. The clubhouse is pretty spartan, and the pro shop has almost no merchandise in it. If they are still in business next year (I would be a little surprised), you might give them a try, but keep your expectations low. We played very inexpensively through our Golf Now booking, and we both agreed it was not worth driving there to play for free. Having said all this, and giving you fair warning, I wish them the best, and hope they can make a go of it. I hate to see any golf course go away because people depend on it for their income. If you want to make a contribution to their future success, by all means give The Dunes some of your business, just don't come away mad, just a little sad. August 11, 2014
