Boca Raton Resort & Club

Boca Raton Resort & Club

Facility Description: Two championship 18-hole golf courses with fully-stocked pro shops and complete practice facilities. The Resort and Club is a Golf magazine Silver Medal Resort and is home to the Dave Pelz Short Game Golf School and the Nicklaus/Flick Golf School (the only resort destination in the world to host both these prestigious schools). Both courses offer private locker room facilities, bag storage, rental golf shoes, clubs and carts. All golf clinics and private lessons at the Resort are taught by Nicklaus/Flick instructors.

The Courses: The Resort Course is located directly on the resort grounds and was originally designed by William Flynn in 1926. In 1997, this course underwent a $6.5 million, complete redesign and reconstruction by acclaimed golf course architect Gene Bates. The new course plays a total of 6,253 yards from the back tees and is a par 71. The course is highlighted with a variety of elevation changes and 12 surface acres of water including a signature water feature designed by Hugh Hughes. The course is dedicated to the famed "Silver Scott" Tommy Armour and the great "Slammin' Sammy" Snead. Both served as Golf Professionals at the Boca Raton Resort & Club from 1926 to 1955, and 1956 to 1969, respectively.

Hotel Information:

The Cloister Inn opened its doors in 1926 at a cost of $1.25 million, the most expensive 100-room hotel ever built at the time. Mizner designed an elegant structure in an imaginative pseudo-Spanish style with courtyards, and furnished it with his private collection of rare antiques from old churches and universities in Spain and Central America. The Cloister's luxury and ambience quickly attracted royalty, Wall Street wealth, movie stars and the ranking hierarchy of the international social set, including General T. Coleman du Pont, Harold Vanderbilt, George Whitney, Florenz Ziegfeld, Al Jolson, Elizabeth Arden and Marie Dressler.

Local Attractions:

For nearly 500 Years, the Boca Raton inlet has served the maritime requirements of visitors to Florida's Gold Coast.
