Wonderful golfing experience Good course configuration. Always a delight to play RedHawk. Great course. challenging. April 5, 2013
Variety of shots needed to master this course Redhawk offers a variety of holes that require the golfer to manage his/her game well. April 4, 2013
this course is challenging and has good features Challenging course with a good mix of features that test all skill levels. Fun course and definatly a good time to be had. April 3, 2013
overall rating 80 Beautiful course, very challenging greens (but fun) The overall course was fantastic. great experience. April 3, 2013
Friendly service and beautiful course. a very challenging course in good condition. The rough is tough with long grass. The green is tough with a lot of break and slope. I would go back to challenge it again. March 28, 2013
Fun course layout just picked wrong time of year to enjoy it I've been wanting to play this course for years and I finally make the decision to make the trip with a friend of mine. The staff was very friendly and professional but we didn't get to use the driving range because we showed up just in time to catch our planned tee off. I've had friends and family tell me this course is usually in very good condition with good greens but that wasn't the case during our round. The tee boxes had very tall and patchy grass, very hard to set up a good spot to hit a drive. The bunkers looked muddy but actually still played very well. But the day we decided to come out to this course the greens had been punched and were covered with a thick layer of sand. This was the worst of it by far. I would still recommend this course to friends but just come during the warmer times of the year, I know ill be back in June or July to play the course at its best. So overall fun course and good layout just chose a bad time to make the hour long trip out this way. One last thing, stay away from the double cheeseburger meal if you don't like raw burgers. Good track for the money Friendly staff...good condition ...great price.... March 17, 2013
Each hole is unique We were paired with some locals which aided in shot direction. We played the white tees, though the other two could have easily played longer. Play was so slow in front of us, that we learned a lot about Temecula while waiting. Most everyone I golf with at home, is better, though very few are faster. We watched the group in front of us search hazards on every hole, less than 175 out. Their experience and ours could have improved with them playing from whites. Having a beverage cart on Monday was nice as well. In a few weeks the fairways will green up, but there were very few spots of dirt. We may play Redhawk again before leaving town. If not next time we're through. The practice greens were scarier than the ones on the course. Redhawks practice facilities are much better than most. I would easily add a star if I played here when the fairways were green. March 12, 2013
Fun course This is pretty much a regular on our annual golf trip to Temecula. While I wouldn't rate it a 'spectacular' like some of the courses around, it's a really nice, interesting layout. It's pretty open so kind of gives you a break and let's you swing away. We felt the maintenance had dropped a little a couple of years ago - but were very pleased with the condition this year. The timing of our trip doesn't give the zoysia time to green up - but that's OUR problem, not the course's. The staff seemed more friendly this year than in some years past, also. Overall a VERY enjoyable day. March 9, 2013
Good golf course for the money. Fairways turned brown due to winter season and there are signs of gopher infestation that needed attention. Some green bunkers need additional sand. Good job on the greens! March 6, 2013
Great Layout but tricky greens The course is a lot of fun. The layout is great. Conditions arent great but the greens are decent. March 1, 2013
Good course, Bad shape. During the spring, this would probably be a beautiful course to play, much like it was in the old days. Now however, the rough and the fairways have been let go. The grass is dormant for the winter but it seemed as if they took that to mean they could just be forgotten, so almost any good drive will require you to hit from a tight lie on your approach. The golf staff was fantastic but the restaurant was fairly poor. Although they do seem a bit understaffed. Overall, I would only recommend you play during the peak months, as the grass will be better then. Not worth more than a dollar more than $30 in the winter. February 26, 2013
SLOW, no marshalls, SLOW pace Nice course but SLOW pace leads to a 5+ hour round. This happens too often at Redhawk February 26, 2013
Overall a good course Greens were in good shape, but the fairways were really burned out. February 14, 2013
Course in poor condition Bermuda grass is not great for winter golf. The ball just rolls forever. The journey, just a couple of miles away, a far superior course to play. February 10, 2013
Breathtaking views......challenging greens! Greens are excellent and definitely challenging! Fairways are quite dry but playable. Worth it to play here just for the scenery! Beautiful view from every hole. February 8, 2013
Great layout, very poor maintenance. Challenging golf, but the extreme lack of maintenance shows. No sand in traps, fairways are OK, but the rough is cow pasture rough. Poor signs and very few yardage markers. January 21, 2013
Fun Course The course is great and can be quite challenging. they provide a marshall and cart for refreshments. The only thing negative is that there fairways have grass that is dormant during the winter months. January 19, 2013
Staff was unhelpful and unknowledgeable / Course needed help I was quite excited to take my stepfather and brother out for a nice round of golf. We found a discounted rate for Redhawk (a course we had never played before) on www.golfnow.com, and booked a tee time for 1:00pm. I expected a little wait due to frost delay, but I did not expect to be treated carelessly. The staff in the Pro Shop was disinterested in helping us understand how to sign-off for a cart or determine our place in line to tee-off. They were not willing to answer basic questions about where we could find a restroom or a place to purchase drinks. The gentleman simply told us to go outside and left us to figure the rest out on our own. We went outside and were able to find the course starter. Apparently, he is the one who allocates the golf carts and determines tee-off order. This gentleman appeared as if he could have used some help, as he was overmatched by his tasks. He was slow in getting us into a golf cart and confused by the groups hoping to begin play. It did not help that the shotgun start after the frost delay was wrapping around to the first tee (something I can completely understand). Even still, this process was grossly mismanaged. I would imagine there are rules and/or policies regarding how this should work, but he seemed like he had no idea this conflict would ever occur. Well, surprise! You work at a golf course, and situations like this happen regularly. As for the course, it was in winter condition and several areas were under repair -- understable in mid-January. We enjoyed playing in the beautiful Temecula environment. Coming away from the experience, I feel as if I got my "money's worth" from the day. With that being said, I saved roughly 70% off the normal green fees by booking through GolfNow. I guess I received a "discounted" treatment because of the discounted rates. With certainty, I am glad I did not pay full price to play. Thanks. January 16, 2013
Greens are a challenge. Must land ball in precise location or else easily three putt. We've played this course before and it remains a fun but very challenging course for us. We had a delayed start due to a tournament. Thought that tee time should have not been given if golf management knew a tournament preceeded which would have delayed our start time. Maybe the delay was more due to frost but starter indicated it was because of a shot gun tournament. Otherwise, very friendly staff. January 8, 2013
the course was in average shape. We had a tee time at 12:36 but the Course had a delay of an hour and half. Because of the delay and amount of golfers waiting we were not able to get 18 holes in as planned. At the turn we asked for a raincheck for the back nine due to the delay. The staff stated since we purchase the reservation from GolfNow at a lower rate they were not going to give us a raincheck for the back nine. January 6, 2013
Course is nice but operations struggled I am a twilight golfer who is always looking for a good deal. I get very mad when there are rules like at encinitas ranch where you have to quit 5 minutes till sunset when there is about 45 mins left Of golf time. Yesterday I booked my tee time and drove from encinitas to temecula. I was there about 40 minutes early so I could hit some balls. When I arrived my friend and I were told there was over a 30 minute (turned out to be a 45 minuite) delay and out 12:45 tee time soon was a 1:35 tee time. I got upset because we had to stop after 15 because it was too dark. Just upsets me. January 6, 2013
Fast undulating greens The greens were fast and undulating but in pretty good shape. The fairways are currently dormant so they are brown but healthy. All in all the course was in pretty good shape. December 28, 2012
A challenging, well designed course, but fairways needed water. Not sure if it's because I just came from Phoenix, but I found the greens difficult to read, although they were in excellent shape. Can't say the same for the brown fairways that lacked water. Very pretty and challenging course. December 9, 2012
If they had a marshal (and a few less leaves), it'd be just about perfect RedHawk is a beautiful golf course; very well maintained, and it's surprisingly challenging with lots and lots of trees, creeks, water, strategically placed traps, and fast greens. The staff was very friendly, and again, the course was in fantastic shape. One thing to note: if you play RedHawk in the fall, be prepared to lose a few balls you wouldn't normally lose. All those trees mean lots and lots of leaves. They're everywhere, and you didn't have to miss the fairways by much to be in a bunch of them. The only complaint we had was the lack of a marshal - there was a foursome in front of us that was more interested in drinking beer and messing around than golfing. They drove their carts back and forth for no apparent reason, and they'd ignore the "no carts" signs and park within five feet of the greens. They took forever to putt, and every putt they sank was celebrated like frat boys playing beer pong. The further into the round we got, the more they drank, and the slower they played. They took nearly 20 minutes to play the 17th, a short par 3. So, yeah, a marshal would have helped. I suppose we should have called the pro shop, but over the years we've learned that if there isn't a marshal already cruising the course you're playing, a phone call usually won't produce one. Summary: RedHawk would have gotten a 10 rating from us but for that one problem. If you're lucky enough not to have slow play in front of you, this is a near-perfect course; fun and challenging at the same time. I'd say give it a try. December 7, 2012
Slow play The green were fast and the course was in great shape, this is a great place to play except that too many slow players held up the pace were most people just wanted to finish before dark! If you have a crowed course you must keep pace of play moving or most good player will not book again! This course is very tough and beginiers should work there way up to this level! November 28, 2012
great course w/tough greens the course is great w/some tough approach shots. the rate of play was the only downfall because even w/all the marshalls/attendant, my 1st time playing this course would have been great if my foursome would have finished. November 24, 2012
Wicked greens Course was in need of more TLC but some rain will probably help that. Greens could be penal, bordering on unfair but certainly interesting. November 16, 2012
It was great! We had a good time.xxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxx November 3, 2012
Excellent all around Good course design with lots of variety and elevation changes. Requires course management skills and creativity. Overall conditions were very good, except a couple of tee boxes and bunkers were too wet from irrigation. October 31, 2012
