Rated 1 out of 5 by Worst Course condition in 11 years. I and a group of about 12 of us have been playing this course for over 11 yrs. Yesterday it was in the absolute worst conditions ever. The whole course was ripped up. They are undergoing some maintenance and every green had horrible aeration that 4 putting was considered good. We booked thru Golfnow.com for total of $79.50 per person. It was not worth even spending 75 cents. We were all very disappointed with the course and with Golfnow.com for not sharing the conditions before we booked, and for charging us $80 to play in almost unplayable conditions. None of my group will play Talega again. I will let others know about this horrible golfing experience. They are many other lower cost courses that Talega does not even begin to to compare to. Rated 1 out of 5 by Avoid Talega Talega was in the poorest condition of any golf course I have seen in the past five years. The greens had been aerated, about which I had been made aware. But the fairways, particularly on the front 9, were a disaster. They had not only been punched, but even areas not punched were in miserable condition. Then there were the bunkers--inexcusable. Hard pan everywhere and totally neglected. Talega was a disaster and should be closed until brought to acceptable shape. September 19, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Cancelled Tee Time The course called me the day before and said that the course would be closed on the 17th and that my tee time was cancelled. They said that the rains earlier in the week had pushed back their maintenance schedule. September 18, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Use To Be A Great Course! Use to play there every week. Not any more. The fairway conditions had become terrible. Greens OK, but very slow. The bunkers have no or little sand. The current fleet of carts are in poor condition and a fair amount of them will not hold a charge to make it though 18 holes. However the staff is very good. September 14, 2015
Rated 1 out of 5 by Dirt bunkers! No sand. The fun layout is challenging with a lot of bunkers. Unfortunately the bunkers don't have any sand in them only hard packed dirt with small rocks. The fairways have large areas of dead grass and patchy sections of bare dirt exposed. The GPS system doesn't work on all 18 holes. This course isn't the beautifully maintained one I played two years ago. Shame. September 8, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great course that is facing tough drought conditions The course design is outstanding. It will challenge every club in the bag. It's a couple of miles from the coast so you will get morning and late afternoon breezes. This makes the front 9 par 3s very difficult. Now the tough part to say...the fairways are bone dry and fast shortening the course. It's a long course but the hard fairways are reducing the teeth of this course.. The tee boxes are not reseeded. The greens are in very good shape but they're a little long today. With drought conditions, I guess you don't want to cut them too short. I played this course the first year it was open and it was outstanding. Now, between the slow down in the golf industry and the drought, it seems course management has had to make tough decisions on course management. This situation, however, is indicative of what all Southern California courses are facing but some are managing better than others. I look forward to coming back when this course regains it's previous course quality. August 30, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Wonderful Course I absolutely love this course. If I could I would play it every day. Every hole has its challenges which a good golf course should have. The greens were not only stunning in appearance but also a challenge. The golf course is stunning and it feels like you are on an island with beautiful surroundings. If you are a decent to an excellent player you should treat yourself and play. It is definitely would the money. August 26, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by San Clemente fun ... Course is in pretty good shape, some rough spots, greens were in very good shape, but slower than should be... a bit long for sure. Bunkers are being worked on and continue to need more work. Weather was perfect. Pace of play - 4 hours. Early tee time, following a 4-some that played from very back tees... passed them at the turn, and flew through back nine. The more I play Talega, the more I like it. August 24, 2015
