Haggin Oaks Golf Course - Alister MacKenzie Course
The Alister Mackenzie course is an 18-hole championship course. World-renowned golf course architect, Dr. Alister MacKenzie, designed the layout and selected Mike "Mac" McDonagh, who had worked with him on the building of the famous Cypress Point Golf Course, to take his design and construct the Sacramento Municipal Golf Course. The course was opened for play on October 1, 1932. Mr. McDonagh remained as the City's Golf Superintendent and later designed the Arcade Creek Golf Course, at Haggin Oaks, which opened in 1958. Later, the Sacramento Municipal Golf Course was renamed the Haggin Oaks Golf Course and finally the Alister MacKenzie Golf course at the Haggin Oaks Golf Complex.
