Mt. Woodson Golf Club
One Tough Course
Mt. Woodson is a picturesque course that challenges you so much that you feel compelled to return! The fairways are pretty narrow, with lots of hazards around the greens. However, if you can resist using your driver, and play safe, you won't lose a dozen balls like I did!
We played from the whites and really enjoyed all the challenges. It's not wicked high grass in the roughs like Torrey Pines, nor is the hole placement outrageous, but it's just challenging enough to give top golfers a go and once a month duffers like myself a fun round.
The greens were aerated a week ago, so they were a bit hard to read, but still playable. Staff is great; told us first timers about the poisin oak, ivy and rattlesnakes...

This is very well designed course. It is challenging. Don't let he par 70 and yardage fool you. There are very few straight-forward holes. There are plenty of fun elevated tees, blind shots, dog legs and other challenges o this course. I really enjoyed myself. The fairways are a bit dry and the greens were recently punched, but it is well maintained and the staff is friendly and helpful. Pace of play was excellent. Under four hours for my first eighteen and I went on a second eighteen in just over three hours. Best pace of play in San Diego that I have experienced.

Golf now and Aeration Alerts
The course was overall in good shape, but the greens had been recently punched and were really bumpy and inconsistent.
I would appreciate it if Golf Now would make sure to have Aeration Alerts when they are like that. This happens way too often.
I would always call the course before you book!

Green fees should have been discounted
We have played this course several times, and loved it. However this time we were not notified that the greens had been aerified, and they were especially awful since there was no sand spread into the holes. The fairways used to be great, but this time they were hard and dry. Our cart's brakes were barely functioning - scary because this is an extremely hilly course.

I love this course. However, today was an exception. Our tee time was 738a, but we had to wait until 8a to tee off because of frost. Frost happens, no biggie. I was not made aware when we checked in that the back 9 was under construction and we had to play the front twice. This made the 30 min drive and the $40 not worth it. If I wanted to play the same 9 twice, I would've spent half the money, half the drive time and possibly played two rounds. Not happy.

Fun, Beautiful Setting
I love this course ,beautiful setting .
Conditions are always good to great.
If you keep it in the fair ways you can score well , but even though the course is somewhat short it can make you pay.
Greens a little long but beautiful.

Watch out behind you!
Challenging course. Several tight par 3 holes. Need to be able to control your shots to score well.
Several blind holes. We were hit into three times, once within 10 ft., even though we played the round in under 4 hours. Still a fun course.
