A Summer Steal in the Desert
My wife and I had a great time playing the Valley Course on the Desert Springs Resort property. We stayed at the hotel, and played at 7:00 AM to avoid the heat. The weather was fine until we finished hole #14 at about 10:00 AM, and it started to really heat up outside. There was plenty of water to drink all around the course, so it didn't get too uncomfortable. As far as the course itself, it is in excellent shape, especially for a desert course in the summer. Everything is green and well maintained. I am a 13 handicap, and my wife is a beginner, but we both had a great time and we finished our round in 3 hours 40 minutes. We only saw 3 other groups on the course all day, and the staff was very friendly and they let the two of us go out on our own. Doug the starter will give you every hint you need to know about the course, and let me tell you his advice alone probably shaved 3 strokes off my score. We highly recommend this course, especially in the summer when the rates are low.

Very nice course layout
Very fun course, has a few tricky holes. Luckily it was only about 102 degrees when we played. Greens are a bit sandy but for the summer vey we'll kept course

Good course.. Very different..
This is. Great course to play.. It's a course that makes you think not just hit and go. But plan it out. Probably a lot better shape in the winter time.

Summer desert golf
It's July in the desert so it was triple digits but course conditions are outstanding and pace of play great--- three hour rounds. And the prices are unbeatable. Beats playing in mor comfortable weather and five hour rounds and high green fees.

Great course all around!
I have played both the Palms and Valley courses on several occasions. I live up in the high desert, and this is pretty much my "go to" golf course when I come down the hill to play. Summers are great to play because the course was basically empty on a Sunday morning. I play with my wife who's a beginner (but getting better every day!), and it's nice to not have anyone to our front or back during play. I always see the beverage cart during play several times. A swim in the hotel pool after a hot day of golf...heaven!

The course is in sad shape
I have played this course many times but when I called to make reservations I was told that the course was in great shape but they had aerated the greens two weeks ago but they were back in shape.
Quite the contrary the greens were terrible, lacking water and sand and they were not even close to being playable. We made 2 putt automatics. The fairways were overgrown and the maintenance staff was mowing down 8 inch fairway and footlong rough. The clippings and cuttings were left in piles to the point where you couldn't find your ball.
This was the worst experience I have ever had at this course and will probably never go back and never recommend to anyone else. The management should be ashamed at the conditions. Also there were no marshals on the course and we were backed up 3 on a tee because some group ahead was 4 holes behind. I know it is summer and play at a reduced rate burt nothing will bring me back to this course again. Terrible experience and no one cares.

course conditions are getting rough
First time on playing the Valley course, preferred the Palm last week, as it was more interesting. Played as a quick threesome, and we did skip a hole to play through a pretty slow foursome ahead. Very accomodating starter, able to shoot out early. The fairways are really pretty rough, need some water. Greens are NOT predictable, as they were just sanded. Had to rouse some help from inside to get our clubs picked up from the bag drop. Not a very interesting course. A few lovely holes, but not enough to make an effort to drive in the future from our place in La Quinta.
