Not PGA ready
Lots of course construction.
Service was great.
I would play again

great deal, great course
We come down every summer to play in the valley and try to play the Stadium Course (oftentimes it has been aerated) but this time it was in great summer shape. It is always difficult but worth the struggle. Good shots are rewarded (and sometimes not). It tests all parts of your game especially chipping/pitching with the many elevated greens and drop offs..

Great challenge for this mid-capper
Played on July 16th at 10:48 after getting a Golf Now hot deal for $35. This was my first time playing the course but luckily I was paired with 3 others that had. Played the combo tees which seemed pretty fair based on my handicap and shorter driving distance. The starter gave me a tip to play whatever club gets you in position for the hole. It won't be driver most of the time. Got myself in trouble a few times using driver and 3 wood as well! It was very challenging if you get out of position as I did on several holes. The long par 3 13th was one of the highlights of my round. Hit over the green by 5 yards then pitched the ball in for birdie from below the level of the green. All areas around the greens were in great condition which allowed for good ball contact. There were a few areas on the fairways that didn't have much grass on them and affected my ability to make good contact with the ball. It is the middle of the summer in the desert however. Greens are fast if you get above the hole. Had to hit close to the front of the green to keep the ball from running off the back. Don't know how the bunkers are since I amazingly did not have to hit out of any of them. Ended up shooting and 89 which is better than I thought my score would be. Overall great golfing experience that I will remember for a long time.

designed for the skins game for the pga tour by pete dye.
If I had to play one course and only one for the rest of my life, the stadium has always been the course I would play. Fair and very challenging.

Best deal in the summer!
Never played this course and one of the best challenges I've played that is public in the Palm Springs/La Quinta area. Course has everything a good player could ask for.

Would not play this course at this time
Spending the July 4th weekend in the Desert, thought I would treat myself to this Top 10 California ranked course. After playing Indian Wells Golf Resort - Celebrity Course on Friday, thought I would take on the challenge of this epic course.
Had a 3:15pm tee time and knew going in that I would most likely be playing as a single - 4th of July, 112 degrees, so most likely not many on the course.
Practice area is decent. They have a short game area so if you're looking to work on your sand play, chipping and pitching, then you'll have plenty of opportunity here. (I would not rank this course as best practice facility in the desert - IWGR has a better practice area in my opinion)
After teeing off and taking on hole # 1, I was surprised when making it to the first green. The greens had been aerated recently and you're basically putting on sand with a small sprinkle of grass. What a disappointment! Had I been informed up front when making my reservation or had been informed about this check in time, I would have cancelled and drove over to play one of the other top courses that are in so much better condition right now.
Overall its summer conditions so you'll never get the true condition of these desert courses in the summer time, however, having just played La Quinta Dunes and Indian Wells Golf Resort during the last 7 days, the greens at those courses are in much better condition.
As far as the rest of the course:
If you are not accurate off the tee, this course will punish you more than your typical course. The reason is that this course has hundreds of hills and mounds, so if you're not skilled at playing a side hill lie, ball above your feet, below your feet etc., then you're not going to enjoy this course. If however you're looking to improve your skills in that area, then this course has to be one of the best you can choice (when the greens are in better condition) in order to help you hone your skills on uneven lies.
One other note: If you're not long off the tee - 270 yrs + with you driver - don't bother trying to play this course from the tips - even the Blue tees will challenge your shot making and your ability to hit long irons - 3-4-5 into greens.
Overall disappointed with the experience.

A very hot round, but survived
Stadium is a great challenge and this was my 2nd time playing it. If you can avoid the trouble (traps), it can be a rewarding and fun round, as I survived in 113* heat and played very well that day. The staff was great as I got out a little earlier than my time and played solo until I joined a couple on #13. I finished in about 3.5 hours, which was nice. The only area for improvement was the greens, as they were a little shaggy and not as quick or smooth as I remembered from the last time. Nothing like Chambers Bay though...ha ha...

Every Hole Interesting
So many courses have a handful of good holes the rest of the holes nothing special . At the stadium every hole is strong and different. If you play the tees which match your ability the day will be even more enjoyable . The fairways are pretty forgiving it is the shots into the greens that get tough . Not that you can be wild off the tee but not too many places to lose a ball or hit it ob . Despite a few weeks of 100 degree weather early in the year the conditions were excellent . Should be good to see the pros back in January
