Rated as on of the "Top 100 Courses in the World" by GOLF MAGAZINE and 4th toughest course in America in Golf Digest's "Top 50 Toughest Courses in America (2007)," there may be no greater challenege or excitement in the game of golf than the Stadium at PGA WEST! The world famous Stadium is one of Pete Dye's finest course creations, delivering multiple adrenaline rushes throughout the round. A "must play" for all golfers, but no the faint of heart. Host to PGA TOUR "Q-School" Finals every other year, PGA TOUR hopefuls must steady their nerves to navigate the island green of hole #17, known as Alcatraz. Imagine yourself as one of them, needing to make par on the menacing water-lined 18th hole to earn the coveted PGA TOUR card!

Named "Stadium" due to Dye's successful efforts of sculpting spectator seating into the natural terrain along fairways and surrounding the greens, many great moments in golf history have occurred here, including Lee Trevino's unforgettable hole-in-one on Alcatraz. This aced him the win of a huge carry-over Skin worth $175,000 in the 1987 made-for-TV "Skin's Game" hosted by PGA WEST from 1986 through 1991. With five sets of tees, the Stadium lures all skill levels and final scores should be measured by laughs and awe-inspiring moments, not by numbers on a scorecard.

Put this course on the bucket list!!!! Drove up from San Diego to play this course and it was well worth the 2 1/2 hour drive and 112 degree heat. The greens had been previously punched but still rolled true. T boxes, fairways and sand traps were all well maintained. Stay away from the rough!!! It will sink your ball about 4 to 6 inches. Overall, very scenic course with excellent customer service in the clubhouse and on the course. Unfortunately, the only downfall of this round was the 19th hole: horrible waitress service and the food was less than average and overpriced. We ordered 2 pizzas at the same time and one came out 25 minutes after ordering, and the next 10 minutes later. Only got visited by the waitress 4 times- not PGA quality service at all!!! Conditions worse than expected The front nine was by far in worse shape than the back. Greens rolled pure however they were sandy and recently aerated so aesthetically not the most appealing. September 7, 2014
Pete Dye at his Best!!! Everyone should play this course once to experience something different in golf course design. It would not be my everyday course, too much luck involved. People say that the course has too many gimmicks but it is what it is, one of a kind. One of the best description of the course is that it looked like it was designed by Dr. Suess. Play the Stadium, have fun and don't get upset with how the design effects your play. August 26, 2014
you.get your money worth The greens were on the slow side. Must hit fairways. The rough was rough. Must hit fairways August 11, 2014
great staff, challenging course One of the best in the valley. If you're looking for an easy golf course that won't challenge you then move on, but if you're up for a test at a great course i would recommend to all. Just make sure you play the right tees based on the handicap on the scorecard, it will make your time more enjoyable! August 8, 2014
tough course but still a great place to play. Tee to green is a challenge. But greens are rewarding. Course was in great shape. August 6, 2014
stadium bites hard it is just too hard of a course for a 56 year old to play from the blue tees. the rough is so deep you loose your ball standing next to it. if not on the fairway forget it and severity of the course makes it unenjoyable for most older golfers. the greens currently are so slow you have to putt harder than your comfort zone. making a par is a real feat. facilities are outstanding but dont eat or drink there. too expensive and the food was horrible. pro shop staff very nice, bartender has not a clue should be replaced over served a group of drunks and made the rest of the customers uneasy.good thing fees are cheap as i cant imagine paying $100+ for this.
