Beautiful Views but Too Hard to play! My first thought after playing several holes ... who on earth thought this was a good place to put a golf course!?? Although the scenery is wonderful and the course was maintained well ... the playability was just a bit ridiculous. Some of the landing areas were TINY ... that is if you could even figure out WHERE they were. Too many blind shots and hazards you just didn't know were there until after your shot. It is definitely not a course for us "older" folks. The course is just TOO STEEP to be playable in my opinion and there are too many ravines and hidden hazards. Also lots of walking up and down very steep slopes ... and that's with a cart. It's beautiful and maybe you should go ONCE just to experience it. I'm afraid we won't be coming back though. Looking at the course ratings on the score card ... you've got to be kidding. The course is rated way easier than it should be. March 19, 2013
The course is challenging place to work on shot selection and clubs to use. The course was in great shape considering 3 weeks ago it was under snow. Staff was friendly and accomidating. Beautiful weather great playing comditions. Will go back. Only down fall was having to play behind group that spent more time looking for their lost balls then playing would not recommend to new learning golfers. March 17, 2013
Beautiful but tough Course was in excellent shap, play slowed by holes where no carts on fairway, tough course if haven't played , course knowledge a must, lots of uphill, downhill lies. Greens seemed slow but lots of uphill putts left short. March 17, 2013
Very nice course..great views of the sierras.A must to put on your bucket list. This is a very nice course, lots of trees, layout is supreme.pretty challaengeing. If you are beginner bring lots of balls. You will test all your skills and have fun at the same time.Lots of downhill tees to test your choice of clubs. The employees are all very friendly and polite.A must to put on your bucketlist. surroundings are magnificent This is a beautiful course and worth the playing if not for the sights and sounds and mountain fresh air alone. January 31, 2013
Great course if it was thawed out. Ball bounced off of greens like it hit a driveway. Beautiful mountain view course. Pace of play was good. Unfortunately we played in January so greens hadn't been mowed in a while, bunkers weren't raked and the course was frozen in many spots. Balls bounced off half of the greens like it was a concrete driveway. Overall it was a challenging course but don't expect to hit driver on very many holes. Course played really short from back tees. Beautiful views of the snow cap sierras. Perfect day for golf, sunny 50 degrees, but we forgot about the elivation. There was snow on some of the fairways, ice on others.Be very careful driving carts. All in All we had a great time love this course and the people who run it are great. Also if you go at this time when its cold, watch out for hole 15,par3 both me and my son hit it within 15 feet of the flag but the green was totaly frozen and bounced up and over the green. January 21, 2013
Frozen solid. Temporary green on 11. Frozen greens and fairways. Wait to play this one until it thaws out. Approach shots hit the green and bounce 15 feet into the air. Not their fault but not ready for play. January 15, 2013
Unique and enjoyable layout with plenty of variety on the holes. Great pace of play. Very good value for the price Great mountain course with plenty of variety on the holes. Numerous options off the tee and a fun thinking man's course. Layout doesn't beat you up with length but plenty of challenge from a course management perspective. Due to time of year, wet and cart part only with some mud balls and plugging December 24, 2012
True resort course A golf experience worth the drive. It is well priced, well maintained, challenging for any level, and a real beauty. December 13, 2012
Little soggy from the rains but as usual a gorgeous day at this place as always. Love this place! Pace was very slow as the group in front of us liked to take practice swings 25 times a hole before driving into the trees! Why not practice swing once if your hitting into trees anyway? Hint Hint! There are others playing behind you! :-) I got a nap before each tee off! We had a 3some me , my wife (plays 1 time a year) and my son. The group in front of us had 2 guys in their 30/40's and we rode their butts all day from their "rude" tactics. No issues ever with the course (other than it's tough) or with the staff or location. A must play of all! November 24, 2012
I love this course, but it always beats me up! We played on a day where it was cart path only which is really tough out there, but the course is always beautiful, as are the views. I think it's all about course management there, you almost have to play it twice. The first time to make all the mistakes, the second to try to correct them! I've played there many times and despite it's toughness, it's always been one of my favorites. November 19, 2012
Apple Mountain is still in great shape Obviously the weather was so perfect, which made our golf game very enjoyable. Beautiful scenery and the course was in great condition. The greens played a little tough to read, but for the most part were very fair. November 6, 2012
Beware High Handicapers This is one on my favorite courses. Unless your into marathons, don't even think of walking. If your not a very straight hitter, bring lots of balls. November 6, 2012
Love this course Have to say this course is one of my favorites challenging and great location. It's very quiet and calming. November 2, 2012
Great course, terrible pin locations Pins were put in the worst, and unfair, locations possible, intentionally. Per the pro shop, they do this for Halloween, or something. They may think it funny, but I didn't find anything funny about multiple 3, 4, and even 5 putts! Wouldn't play it again with these pin locations. November 1, 2012
Course in good condition Very tough hilly course, lots of elevation change. Don't play it during Trail of Terror days. Pins are in impossible positions! October 31, 2012
The views and layout was excellent! Loved playing Apple Mountain! Beautiful day with great views and the course was wet, but in excellent condition! October 31, 2012
Awesome views, and incredible terrain, best value in Sacramento area. The Skull tee's and course set up was awesome, toughest pin placements I've ever played here. October 31, 2012
A very enjoyable and testy experience. Brings golfing and you to a test of skill. When you finish a round at AMGR, you know were you and your golfing ability truly stand. You may not like the answer, however, if you love golf it is a scenic beauty matched with a need for golfing skill. The staff do a stealer job of making you welcome. October 31, 2012
Great Value Beautiful Course!! Scenic, well maintained and enjoyable. Challenging, but still fun for a variety of abilities. Pace of play is good, staff is very helpful. October 30, 2012
Target Golf Quite surprised at how chalenging the course was for the money. October 5, 2012
This is very difficult course Staff is extrodinary. Food was adequate. This track gets my thumbs up. October 4, 2012
Not a grip it and rip it course Great course, beautiful scenery and you'll use just about every club in your bag. September 26, 2012
Good course - good condition good course if you like mountain golf. course is in great condition. September 26, 2012
