The Links at RiverLakes Ranch is a distinctly unique golf course—the likes of which you’d never expect to see in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley. When architect, Ron Fream designed the layout at RiverLakes Ranch, he incorporated quite a few Scottish golf elements including burms and a rolling, undulating style unique to the Central Valley.

RiverLakes Ranch also incorporates quite a bit of water—hence the name. In addition to the 12 man-made lakes that help provide water hazards on more than half the holes, the Friant-Kern canal wends its way through RiverLakes. While not a natural water hazard, the canal adds to the uniqueness and challenge at RiverLakes Ranch. RiverLakes Ranch was built with considerable attention paid to the natural environment. Almost all the earth moved to create the lakes at RiverLakes was used to create the contouring and burming which give the course its distinct shadowing and shape.

The nines each have a distinct feel. The front nine is more open, while the back plays in and out of and around the old almond orchards. Multiple tees make the Links accessible for both the average and short hitters as well as creating a great challenge for the low handicapper.

Great 8 months of year Very nice course that could be great if they did not lose their greens EVERY summer. Bunkers need help. Fairways and tees great. Pace of play is slowed every Saturday morning by the best players who are in a skins game and think they are on tour. Five hour rounds the norm in am. My kid and I can play 18 in afternoon in 3 hours. July 19, 2015
Waste of money This course is in terrible condition, eight of the eighteen greens àre horrible,.WORST Course in Kern County. Save your money and play anywhere else. July 16, 2015
Fun course Great time with friends. Fun course to play, will definitely play here again. July 8, 2015
This course has poor playing conditions Although the price to play this course was good, the conditions of the greens are severely in bad shape on the back nine holes. July 7, 2015
Bang for your buck These greens were punched a few weeks ago and they are in great condition. The fairways look like fairways. The only complaint I have is the sand traps and bunkers are hard sand, not the kind you want to hit out of. Overall a great place at a great price. June 3, 2015
This course is worth the buck. A well maintained challenging course right in the city at moderate price. May 30, 2015
An ok place to play I played here as a single and it was my first time here. I don't know much about California golf, being from WI, but the greens were quite bumpy and a little long. I expected it to be a little better for the price that I paid ($25). Fairways were just ok and the tee boxes were fine too, I just couldn't understand the greens. I don't know if it was two different types of grasses or that they hadn't been cut in a while but they were more bumpy than anything I've played. The course design is great. Bunkers along the fairways were not the place to be, but you usually had a chance to get it out and maybe near the green. The front 9 is easily walkable but you will need a cart on the back because the holes are really spread out. The back is much tougher than the front. Lots of water as well all over the course. I would play again but I wouldn't want to pay quite as much. I travel all over the country for work so I really depend on golf now and the reviews for places to play. Most of the time, I'm a first time player at every course, so I think it's important for people who use this service to provide an accurate description of the course. April 16, 2015
Third time not the charm... I hate to speak bad of this place because the people who work there seem knowledgable and kind. Unfortunately, that's the only thing this place has going for it. The tee boxes are full of weeds, the fairways are much of the same, the bunkers are like hitting off of concrete and don't even get me started on the greens. On multiple occasions, I tried to wash my ball only to find out it was dry. I only saw two watering stations and the second one had no water in it. Keep in mind it gets into the triple digits here on a regular basis. Oh yeah, the water fountains were out of order as well. I will be driving a little further away when I visit Bakersfield in the future. April 7, 2015
