Rated 3 out of 5 by Greens are slow Not sure why, but it appears that the greens had not been cut for a few days. I have played this course many times and never had this experience. They were very slow and hard to understand why. All of us on my group had problems with the slowness of the greens. We all 3 putted the same green, don't think I have ever been in a group when that has happened. August 4, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by Not good Greens were terrible. I have played there several times this summer and the greens are getting worse each time. Where the fringe was suppose to be was dirt. Sand traps were like hitting off cement August 3, 2015
Rated 3 out of 5 by Beautiful Course but ... The Preserve is one of the most beautiful courses in the Tucson area but they have recently punched the greens for summer, thus they are pretty poor, bumpy and sandy and slower than a shag carpet. Fairways in great shape, the bunkers have little to no sand. I really like playing here but right now this is not here you want to play if you are looking for tournament-level conditions. Rated 4 out of 5 by Great Layout, Extremely Slow Greens I've played here several times and think it's one of the best layouts in Tucson. Challenging and very entertaining. But yesterday I ran into two problems. First, the greens were in very poor condition. Mostly, they were very shaggy and exceptionally slow. Everyone had a hard time getting the ball to the hole. Often, long putts only got half way. Second, I played at 11:15 - in July, when the course is usually pretty empty so it's not unusual to get around in 3 hours or less. But on this day, there were a couple of men's foursomes that were SO slow, that I was looking at least a 5 hour round, so I had to skip a hole or two to get in front of them. There really isn't an excuse for taking up to 10 minutes for a foursome to putt. And of course, no rangers out in the summer to keep things moving along. I'll have to rethink whether I want to try it again. July 29, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Golfing on the course - Terrific but. Our foursome arrived as prepaid. One employee was behind the counter and three employees were in an room next to the golf shop. It had just finished raining and the weather was clearing. Perfect temperature. The checkin person was abrupt and showed no interest in making us welcome. It was as if he really didn't care if we needed anything or even asked if we had played the course before. Not even a smile of welcome. After signing the cart slip, we were instructed to take our bags to the carts. Unfortunately not having played the course we didn't know the location of the carts. I returned to ask and was told they are down the hill and pointed. Arriving at the carts we found the cart and seats "wet"! Went back up the hill and into the pro-shop to ask if they had towels to dry off the seats. "Nope, don't have a thing, just use your hands" .. By the way, we arrived 30 mins early, no one was waiting and no one on the course. We asked if we could tee off early. The answer, "no your tee time is 10:15, I'll call when it's your tee time". As for the golf course, it's one if not the best courses I've play in Southern Arizona. Magnificent views on every hole and very well manicure. What a nice experience -- except for the welcoming ... Rated 5 out of 5 by Fun course, spectacular scenery There are gulches that don't enhance the course, and are not visible from where you play your shot.. Greens are nice and uniform, but rather slow. Just takes some getting used to. Gas carts are noisy, but likely necessary to make it up and down the hills. Really liked that there are specific places for carts to enter and exit the fairways. Overall, a great experience. July 9, 2015
Rated 2 out of 5 by need to do better signage and marking for the course nice course but very poorly marked - had no idea of yardage to bunkers, where to aim, where not to aim, where to lay up, etc. No signs at the tee box or overhead picture of the hole. There are a lot of blind shots and you have no idea of what lies ahead. Talked to the staff afterwards - somewhat unresponsive... didn't really care. play somewhere else instead is my advice. Rated 4 out of 5 by Father's day Very nice course. Views - you can't beat them. The greens were recently punched, and are coming back nicely. Fairways were more recently punched, so expect some imperfection until they fill in. Staff could have been a bit more friendly. Your not a private club and this time of year, non-members are spending money at your course when there are so many other choices at summer rates. June 24, 2015
