The Lodge At Ventana Canyon - Canyon Course
Imagine teeing off on one of our two Tom Fazio designed championship golf courses... Located on a plateau above the city of Tucson and nestled into the Catalina Mountain foothills, The Lodge at Ventana Canyon embraces the spirit of this unique and beautiful land.
Golf at Ventana is a challenging and memorable event. It`s a visit with nature that not only includes the beauty of the desert foliage, but also a visit with wildlife such as deer, roadrunners, quail, rabbits, bobcats and birds of every description.
Ventana Canyon features two outstanding eighteen-hole courses. Both are desert-style, target courses.
The Mountain Course has many changes in elevation and several elevated tee while the Canyon Course is more level, but no less challenging. Undulating, impeccable greens and beautiful vistas from within the Santa Catalina mountains make Ventana Canyon one of the best golf experiences in Southern Arizona. The public is allowed to play the Mountain Course on even days of the month, and the Canyon Course on the odd days. These courses were the site of the Pro-Am tournament for the PGA and LPGA Tour`s Tucson Open. The finals for The Merrill Lynch Shoot Out were also held here. Both courses have ladies` course and slope ratings from the men`s tees.

The Lodge at Ventana Canyon offers a variety of options for dining, including the Hearthstone with its beautiful terrace, and the Sierra Bar with its panoramic views of the foothills.
The Hearthstone: The resort’s Hearthstone dining room features a dramatic fieldstone fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic vistas of the Santa Catalina Mountains, the golf course and the lush green mesquite trees, palo verdes and saguaros lining the shadowed chasms of Ventana Canyon. Just outside, the Sabino Terrace dining area is frequented by quail, chuckawallas and other desert dwellers who make themselves at home around the resort. These are beautiful settings for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Golf House Grill: Here’s the ideal place for quick sandwiches, snacks and drinks next to the driving range. Hours vary seasonally.
Sierra Bar: The Sierra Bar is a favorite spot for congenial dining after a round of golf. Enjoy a casual dinner in an informal setting. Relax at the bar with its TV screens reflecting the latest news and sports. Or lounge with a drink by the fireplace overlooking the golf course and the Santa Catalina foothills.
Amidst the natural pageantry of Ventana Canyon, the resort’s remarkably spacious guest suites capitalize on the spectacular setting. Inviting private balconies and patios offer breathtaking views of the golf course, dazzling city lights and majestic mountains towering above The Lodge. Every suite offers 800 to 1500 square feet of homelike comfort…including one or two bedrooms with king-size beds, a lavishly stocked refreshment center, and large baths with telephones, terrycloth robes and often an old-fashioned footed bathtub.
Tennis: Just east of The Lodge is an inviting tennis complex with twelve lighted, hard-surface courts (including a stadium court for exhibition and match play), all of which feature spectacular views of the Sonoran Desert. Players of all levels can expand their skills by taking advantage of tennis instruction from the professional staff.
Swimming: The sports swimming complex located just east of The Lodge offers a junior Olympic-size pool with lap lanes, along with towels and locker facilities.
Fitness Center: The round-the-clock fitness center offers men’s and women’s saunas and whirlpool spas. The fitness center can also arrange for a massage in the privacy of your suite.
Around The Lodge: Colorful narrators guide exciting jeep tours through the Sonoran Desert, describing the cactus, coyotes, roadrunners and other desert dwellers you pass along the way. Ride one of the spectacular desert trails near the resort, or wherever you like…either by day for a look at the wonders of nature, or by night for a glimpse of what old-time cowboys saw by starlight. Hot air balloon rides offer breathtaking vistas of the city, the desert canyons and the pines along the Catalina Mountains. Nature walks and trail hikes reveal the wonders of Ventana Canyon, known as a spiritual haven to long-ago desert dwellers who left their petroglyphs on nearby walls of stone.
Local Attractions: The Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum is the place for an up-close look at the fascinating plants and animals that inhabit the desert surrounding Tucson. The renowned Southwestern artist Ted DeGrazia built his Gallery In The Sun in the Santa Catalina foothills, where today it’s filled with some of his best-known work and is open to visitors. One of Arizona’s top five favorite sites for tourists, Saguaro National Monument is a virtual forest of saguaros, enhanced by spectacular desert vistas. The Wild West comes to life at Old Tucson, a former Western movie location that gives visitors a glimpse of life in the Old West. Built by the famous Father Kino, the Mission of San Xavier del Bac is one of the most photographed Southwestern treasures. The futuristic ecological experiment of Biosphere II is a living, breathing exhibit of the earth’s many ecosystems all under one roof. And Tucson offers a dazzling variety of shops and galleries that reflect its diverse cultural heritage.
