Introducing Oakcreek Country Club

Oakcreek Country Club, designed by the famous father and son team of Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Robert Trent Jones Jr., can truly be described as a work of art. The par 72, 18-hole championship golf course is nestled among the red rocks of Sedona, Arizona with views beyond compare and the golf course design a masterpiece.

The golf course is a traditional layout similar to those that you may find in the midwestern United States. In the usual Trent Jones manner, the fairways are classic tree lined doglegs with fairway bunkers strategically placed in the landing areas, and the greens are all slightly elevated and surrounded with large swirling greenside bunkers. The course is "player friendly", allowing plently of room for error but always with an opportunity to recover and get errant shots back into play.

The golf course consists of 145 acres, including three lakes. Water comes into play twice on the front nine between the #1 and #9 holes. On the back nine the water comes into play on holes #13 and #16 and occasionally, on hole #15. Recent renovations to the golf course include brand new concrete cart paths and all the greenside bunkers rebuilt under the watchful eyes of the Robert Trent Jones Jr. design firm.

A good walking course in the desert First things first, I didn't have time to play the course, so I drove all 18 holes to get a feel of the place. More than half of the groups on the course were walking, a reflection of the gentle land. Oak Creek doesn't feel like a desert course. It's wall to wall green grass. The mature trees and pines lining the fairways mimic the classic country clubs of the Midwest. A couple ponds and a creek are the only hazards to worry about, not the desert washes and canyons that characterize most courses in the region. It's pleasant and playable. April 8, 2014
Good Value This course is a very good warm up for us coming from Wisconsin where we can only play 6-7 months. Course is generally in good condition. Staff is friendly. April 6, 2014

Saluki Great view of Mountains. Tree lined fairways, still room for errant shot. Greens were smooth and fast. Overall great experience. April 1, 2014
This course has awesome scenery Loved the course and the overall experience. Coming back this week for another round. March 25, 2014
Nice views, fun course The course is about 1.5 - 2 hours north of Phoenix in Sedona area. Take the day and enjoy the sites and food in the town to make the day complete. The course has a few tricky holes but generally straight forward. All puts break away from the Rock, believe it! Greens were a little slow but true and over all course in good shape. Staff were very friendly and helpful. If you are looking for low stress golf with plenty of views to admire between shots, this is a good bet. March 23, 2014
