A lot of fun shots.
I played the Desert/Canyon nines, and while I usually prefer longer courses (this was just over 6000), I really enjoyed the array of shots required out here. There were some fun par 3s- two in particular- that had elevated hillside tee shots. The par 5s were basically long par 4s, but had some challenging greens and pin positions to guard the holes. The course was in good shape; the greens rolled well but weren't too quick. All in all, it was a fun round that was probably worth what I paid through Golfnow, but not at the listed resort price.

Great view of Phoenix downtown, and camelback mt. Greens are challenging.
For the money we payed it was a great deal. No way would I have ever played this course with out using golfnow. If you are in the Scottsdale area make an effort to play this course.

Conditions and views that would be hard to beat anywhere. Canyon nine offers challenge as well as some wonderful scenery in every direction.
Oasis though flat, offered some challenging landing areas as well
as bunkering. Canyon with its elevation changes often had less than flat lies making the pairing of the two nines an excellent choice.

The Phoenician Golf Resort
A great golfing experience----very freindly and knowledgeable staff, super views, condition of the course was exceptional, greens were a little slow but true.
I will be taking out of town guests here!

Superb conditioning and great views lead to an enjoyable round
The Phoenician is excellent! Top-notch facility, welcoming service, and a very sporty and playable golf experience. We played the Canyon/Oasis combination. The Canyon, although not long, winds around the base of the Camelback Mountain ... providing spectacular views of the valley. With undulating fairways, and smooth, fast greens, there is plenty of challenge despite the yardage on the card. By comparison the Oasis is flat but no less challenging with water in play on several holes. Again, conditioning stands out on this nine. Great rate on Golfnow. We'd go back in a minute!

27 stunning, challenging, yet playable holes!!
My friend and I had our bags checked in at the bag drop then checked in with starter to confirm our reservation. Range balls off real turf were part of the green fees. Practiced on the chipping green (surface was good enough to practice putting also) before moving to the practice putting green. Before starting, we could load up on Phoenician tees, ball markers, erasered pencils, score cards, nice metal ball repair tool and a great pocketable yardage aid of all the 9 hole courses.
Starter had us starting on the Canyon course which was a combination of desert, mountain and water holes. Holes penalized on very poor shots but slightly off target balls were still playable. Greens were in great condition and rolled true. Very few ball divots. Fairways were is excellent condition and the rough was very forgivable with being able to find your ball and play out of it without much difficulty. The sand traps were spacious and tough to get out of without proper technique.
You have to pay attention to the location of 5th and 6th holes which can easily be bypassed as you finished the 4th hole.
We finished our round on the Oasis course which had less desert but more water holes. Greens again were great condition and rolled true.
We played the next day, again with an early morning start beginning with the Desert Course and finished with the Canyon course. The Desert was more penalizing because the desert narrowed the fairways and most of the time you could not play your errant shot or play off the rough sand and rock. The greens more more challenging with more levels and slightly dryer conditions with faster putts that were difficult to read. There were a couple of terrific elevated par 3's.
Clean restrooms and drinking fountains were strategically placed so we were never uncomfortable. Overall, I had no problem giving this golf resort, 5 stars out 5. Had a wonderful, huge Ahi tuna burger with tater tots on the side. Downed that with a local blond draft to end two awesome days of golf. Look forward to playing there again.

Great Golfing Experience
The Phoenician is a beautiful resort at the base of Camelback Mountain and within it is one of Phoenix's best courses. There are three separate nine hole courses, Oasis, Desert, and Canyon, each of which is designed according to its namesake. Canyon runs up alongside the southern portion of Camelback Mountain and feels as though you are golfing alongside the base of a canyon wall. Oasis is a flat, lush array of holes with, as you'd assume, frequent water hazards weaved in throughout the holes. Desert I did not play, but I assume it is of the typical desert style course that Phoenix is known for. The courses are in immaculate condition, and while somewhat short, do offer plenty of challenges. I highly recommend this course if you're looking for a great golf experience right in the heart of Scottsdale.

Hard to pay attention to golf with the views there
We golfed there two years in a row and it's our favorite course in the area.the burgers at relish are as good as the course is scenic.

Great Course
I was very pleased with the course. Would defiantly play it again if I had the chance. Practice range and putting area were nice. Truly a fun course!

Great condition and location
If you can hit the ball more than 250 yards off the tee, this course plays almost like an executive course. The landscaping, and course condition were perfect. I would highly recommend this course to an average golfer. My only major complaint was the bunkers. They were extremely corse and rock hard. Seems like they needed more sand. I also wish they would hav had more water to drink along the way. Enjoy this beautiful course!

Treated like a member!
If you desire to be treated special for the day then come to The Phoencian! As soon as you drive onto the property you can sense that this day will be special. As you approach the golf course you immediately see the outstanding condition of the course. From the moment you drop off your bags until you leave, you will be treated like a valued member of a private club. The staff is courteous and responsive. The courses appear to be short in distance on the card, but you will be challenged to hit to the proper portions of the course in order to score. The greens roll true but due to the proximity of Camelback mountain, the slopes can be tricky to negotiate. Half the battle is on the greens, that are not super fast, but do have a lot of breaks. So enjoy it! Even if you are not striking it well, the scenery here is breathtaking for the top player or novice.

Best course I've played in Phx
...Granted I've only played 4 courses so far. The Phoenician had great staff, great vistas, a fun layout, and was in awesome condition.
I ended up using almost every club in my bag throughout the round. The course is not very long, but has some tight tee shots.
We went out as a twosome and had to wait every shot but still finished in 4 hrs even.
March 21, 2013
Great course lots of fun and great hamburger after in the restaurant.
My only complaint was that I received no email confirming my tee time. I called the course and found out the exact time and even they said that I would receive a confirming email but did not.

Fantastic value for a truly exceptional course.
Course was in unreal shape with fairways, tee-boxes and greens all in tip-top condition. Great value considering the price for green fees in comparable courses nearby. Would definitely play again!

Tremendous test of Golf Abilities!
Roped off areas on first 4 holes lead to slow play by group in front of us. GPS would have been a help for all that play. For carts in front the GPS would identify where they are. One of our foursome was on the T-box and was driving when he hit an errant shot off the the right. Just so happens that the foursome in front of us was off to the right behind some trees where we could not see them and the ball land on the top of one of the carts. No one was hurt but this could have been serious.

Wel maintained Course with great elevation changes and wonderful views.
Nice design. Liked the elevated tees. Course is in great shape. Remember when putting the will always break away from the mountain. Pro shop very friendly.

Resort course, short length, good condition, 4 1/2 hr round
We played on a Saturday afternoon with another two-some. They have (3) 9 hole courses, barely 3,000 yards. We played from the back tees, but on several occasions those tee boxes weren't being used. For the money I would look elsewhere, there's lot's of other choices out there.
March 17, 2013
Desert/Canyon very nice
I was very impressed with the course. Great conditions. Some of the holes are short but that doesnt mean it doesnt provide a nice challenge. Some of the holes provide some unbelievable views of the surrounding mountains and area. I took a lot of pictures. Staff was very nice and the RELISH bar is a nice place for a after round drink. REally enjoyed my time there and got a great deal from golf now
March 16, 2013
Short course, tough, fair course
27-Hole Facility
I played the Desert & Canyon 9's
Despite being under 6100 yds from the tips I was warned by a pair of gentleman I played with that it was a difficult course. After 18 humbling holes I tend to agree.
While not long, the course was set up where you had some questions about club selection, which always makes things more interesting.
Greens seemed slower than my playing group imagined, but as the day wore on they sped up.
Beautiful looks and sights were a definite treat. Bring your camera.
We finished our round in just over 4.5hrs, although we struggled collectively with our 18th hole (this is not uncommon according to our playing partners more familiar with the course), so pace of play was probably closer to 4.25hrs.

Incredible!
Wow, Wow, Wow! Played the Canyon and Oasis and what a treat to play such a perfectly manicured course. I didn't see one grass blade out of place, the grounds crew were not just mowing the greens with push mowers, but also the rough.
Fun and challenging layout, enjoyed the Canyon more than Oasis, but number 9 at Oasis was fantastic. Could hit anything from an 8 iron to driver off the tee.
Lucked out and got a $90 rate on GolfNow for a 7:50am tee-time. The snack bar was already open and had a breakfast burrito and coffee, service was very good.
I have been fortunate to play some of the greatest courses – La Costa, Torrey Pines, PGA West Stadium and this ranks right up there with the best. In fact, probably in the best condition.

Course is great for all levels of player.
Phoenician offers good challenge, and good value. Like all Troon courses we've played, they work hard for you to enjoy the experience. Found cart and club house was a little over priced.
March 14, 2013
Although a bit pricey the staff is wonderful, the course is in good shape, and the pace of play was good.
I recommend this course to those players looking for a resort course experience .
March 12, 2013
Few gimmicky holes & rather short
On course food and drink was far too excessive.
Course is rather short and a few gimmicky holes.
A layout of a few holes holes dangerous, as almost hit a couple of times.
March 10, 2013
Great views, beautiful holes
I enjoyed everything about the course with 2 caveats: you can't find yardage markers and the pace of play gets bogged down on the Canyon nine with its 2 par 3's in a row. Otherwise a delightful experience for a reasonable (Phoenix-style) greens fee.
March 4, 2013
A pleasure to play.
Great course condition, good challenge, and staff that complement the experience.

good resort course
played before, in great shape, too slow of play - 5 hrs

A special golf experience
From the time I arrived at the course, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The course was in almost pristine condition and the layout was challenging but fair. A number of holes provided risk/reward scenarios that made the course even more enjoyable. The views from some of the tees were absolutely fabulous. The rate of play was fantastic. We completed the 18 holes in about 3 1/2 hours and the only downside is that I was sorry to leave the beauty of the course.

Beautiful Resort
I waited to play this course a long time. In the end the play was so slow that we played Desert (excellent course) then wanted to play canyon but were moved onto Oasis because of the speed of play, Desert was good, Oasis was easy and didnt get to Canyon
February 20, 2013
Best course we played other then TPC and Dove mountain
Unbelievable beauty on this course. Had no idea it was that good. Everything perfect.

Great views
Don't let the shorter distance fool you, very challenging. Customer service was exceptional. My first time using golf now, the only way to book golf. Great value, will use it every time to book golf.
