Raven Golf Club - Phoenix
If it was not for golfnow I wouldnot have played it. Too pricy during the season. Not worth $150 per round

The course has a nice layout and in good condition. Played Nov 13/2013. First group after morning shot gun tourney. Pace of play on front nine was horrible, took almost 3 hours. We were paired with a nice couple, that made it bearable.
Got to 10th tee and found that the pro shop had let a slow group start their round on the back. Not happy, staff member was coming down cart path, he asked the group to let us play through. Back nine was a real pleasure after we passed group, no one in front of us after that, finished back nine under 2 hours.
My review may be a little skewed, as we had played "The Legacy" 2 days before, which in my opinion, is one of the best deals in Phoenix.

Beautiful, I almost forgot I was in a dessert!
Beautiful course. Very well maintained!! Pine trees and pine needles covered void areas between fairways. I almost forgot I was in a dessert!

Nice course ... problematic membership policies
This is a well maintained parkland style course (not a desert course as many are in Phoenix). It's very convenient to the airport for travelers who want to get in a round before they head home. I probably played this course 50 times or more.
I was a member several years back where they offered a GREAT deal for ten years of membership including cart fees, and took all the money up front. Almost a year later, they hired new management and sent out letters to all the members that they were no longer honoring the memberships ("Thanks for your money - please come back and play with us again!"). That didn't fly with some of the members who were attorneys, so with threats going back and forth, they offered a pro-rated refund (or continued membership - but you'd need to pay for cart fees). I opted for the pro-rated refund. My rationale was that if they'd deceive you once, they can do it again. It was a good year of golf for less than $1000 - and I loved playing there, but the whole affair left a very sour taste in my mouth. Now I golf all over town with golfnow.com, my Troon Card, the Southwest PGA card and my OB Sports card. It's much more expensive that way, but I get to play a variety of courses.
When the new managements came in, they cleaned house and got rid of a wonderful friendly staff. They invested more in the course which is good, but it's not as friendly and welcoming as it used to be.

Except for some patches around the greens, the course was in great shape.
It was also cart path only which was not stated on the booking.

Superb course and conditions
The staff was absolutely superb. I am a native to the Phx area, but the first time at this course, and they made me feel very welcome. The course could have been the nicest I have ever played, anytime, anywhere. It was not overly difficult, but very pleasing to the eye, yet challenging if you deserved it. This course rates at the top of my list to play again when back in the Phoenix area.

Disappointed that the course did not declare that it was cart path(CP) only.
