Fun, Challenging Holes! This was the first time we played this course and everything about it was fantastic! Picturesque views from many holes, variety of elevations and some fun, surprising layouts! February 16, 2015
Perfect Valentines Day! This was the first time we have played this course which happened to be on Valentine's Day/my birthday. The day could not have been better. We were not paired up with anyone which was very nice. The course is difficult, but somehow I was able to par the first hole and had my best game ever. Only downside was that we were always waiting for the guys ahead of us to tee off. Very well kept facility and beautiful views! We will definitely be back to play this course again! February 15, 2015
The Staff were very accomodating Because I usually play at The Legacy when in Phoenix, the conditions on this course were somewhat disappointing. The greens were rough and had recently been micro-punched. The two nines are completely different in character. The front nine winds through civilization with plenty of houses for the uncontrolled to hit. The back nine goes out into the desert of South Mountain Park and is quite scenic. Most holes have considerable humps, bumps or elevation changes and some have severe side slopes. We played about a week after a heavy rain, but the fairways were still very hard. On the third hole, a par 5, I hit a good drive down the left side of the fairway, only to see it roll clear across the fairway into the lake. For the price, I'll stick to the Legacy from now on. Decent overall A good challenge, but no way I would pay rack rates for this course. Tee boxes not in best of shape, greens ok, but lots of ball marks and a few with grassless spots. Fairways spotty in some areas. The layout is fun and can be challenging. No trick holes, but smallish greens. Some better marking of where to drive between holes is needed. This is our second time playing and we Again got lost after finishing. The sign after the tunnel needs to be a U turn, not an arrow. We paid $50, a good price for this course. February 14, 2015
MN Golfers We were very pleased with everything except the beverage cart. When it did finally come around on the back nine, it had run out of most things that we wanted. February 12, 2015
Fun golf course makes you hit all your clubs Had great round of golf. This course makes you hit all your clubs. It is very nice shape and well maintained. It does help to play the course a few times to know where to hit the ball. Definitely a target golf course. Had wonderful time. February 12, 2015
This course is exhausting There are too many "golf path only" holes. This required climbing embankments and traversing across fairways that should have permitted golf carts. Not a fun time! February 11, 2015
Front 9 Poor in Prime Season Having played AZ Grand several times previously, I was quite disappointed with the course conditions during my last round. It looks like they've started to do soccer-golf on the front 9 holes (judging by the big styrafoam plugs in all of the greens) and the condition of the greens was horrible. The front nine was hard dirt greens with speckles of grass, basically had to use a putter around the greens to keep from flying past.. The back 9 was in decent shape, but definitely not what I've seen in the past or what I would expect for the money. February in Phoenix should mean golf courses are in tip-top shape, however that was definitely not the case for AZ Grand. I feel really sorry for folks who paid the full price rate @ $150 per round.. I know several municipal courses that have their greens in MUCH better condition. February 9, 2015
