Camelback Golf Club - Padre Course 4.1 5 64 64
Beautiful Course, Friendly Staff outside and inside. Very nice Clubhouse and Pro Shop We played on 10-1-12. Many courses in the area were overseeding and Padre Course was due in a week. Very playable although brown/yellow fairways. Perception is reality and we knew this and were informed upon arrival that course did not look the greatest but still will play well. It did!! We played the back tees and had a terrific time. Scenic views made the difference. Layout is great and challenging! We will be back when the overseeding is done. We did have trouble with the speed of the greens, (very fast) which we thought was very good and Greens were well maintained. Just not used to this coming from midwest(Chicago). We will be back. Thank you to Matt for your help with Carts,Range and Practice Area. October 9, 2012
Dont pay full price Course was decent played late in the day. Barely made it before it got dark. It was a little slow back up on all holes. Course was not that challenging however not getting in to a rhythm made it more difficult. Ground was hard and greens super fast. I played four times before this time in Scottsdale and the courses were in much better shape. I had a golf now for 60 bucks and I think that was worth it. Paying over a hundred for this course would not be. April 6, 2013
Good Tune up for the week On our recent trip to PHX we played multiple rounds of golf. This course was chosen based on location and difficulty (fairly easy to get into the groove) and proved to be a perfect start. The one thing that bothered us a little is the speed of the greens. They were so fast that you could not hold your putts on them. The guy I played with was a local and even he stated that he has not seen them quite this fast. (just to compare: also played TPC Scottsdale, Vista Verde and Dove Valley Ranch out there, none of them came close in green speed). They great facility and practice area. Overall great course for the money! April 1, 2013
First Golf services Pace of play was outstanding this past Saturday afternoon as our foursome never really waited and things moved nicely. Always nice to play in 4 hours or less. The staff at Camelback is fantastic. I can not sat enough about the level of service and how friendly everyone here is. I wish more course would embrace the hospitality provided at the facility. The course itself is in great shape and the greens were pretty slick with tough pin placements. Really enjoyed the afternoon. March 25, 2013
beautiful nice course a little spendy and a good drive if you live in the gilbert chandler area March 19, 2013
Great Golf Course Great golf course - wife and I had a great time and were paired with some very nice golf partners March 18, 2013
Disappointing This is a generally flat, uninspiring course with little appeal for the experienced golfer looking for a challenge. The day I played, the course was backed up with a couple of mini-tournaments and slow foursomes; and, judging from the inappropriate attire and limited golf competence of players in the group immediately ahead of us, I suspect that this facility caters to a "relaxed" clientele, unfamiliar with course etiquette and basic golf protocol. On every tee we waited behind either two or four golf carts and took little comfort in the apologies of rangers who seemed unwilling to try to solve the glacial speed of play. After 3-1/2 hours with 7 holes still to play, I gave up in frustration with absolutely no intention of returning to this course. Other courses charging the same fees give far better value in terms of course layout and features, pace of play, and general ambience. March 15, 2013
Staff was very helpful, facility was great, course was in very good condition. The only problem we had was running water through several fairways due to recent rains. Would have been much more playable without all the casual water (not often a problem in the desert!). Otherwise it was a very enjoyable experience. March 13, 2013
Not worth it There are better courses for the same money. Some very silly holes, too easy after good shot to loose ball in water. March 11, 2013
Don't waste your time or money Frankly, we were taken aback by the condition of the Padre course. The fairways were all choppy with unfilled divots; the greens were in awful shape with bare spots and what looked like disease. The second course at this site, Indian Bend, is currently under construction. It seemed to our foursome that all of the attention was paid to the reconstruction and not as much to the maintenance and upkeep of the Padre course. We will not return. March 7, 2013
Great value for money option in the area Course was in good condition. Even though we were behind a group of 3 x fourballs who were very slow, the course marshall did a great job of getting them moving. March 5, 2013
A challenging resort course A classic old style resort layout with a great practice facility. Get there early to utlize it as it is included in the fee. The course is fairly long when played from the back tees and has some difficult bunkering. It winds it way through some spectacular and sprawling resort homes in old Scottsdale. Water features come into play on a number of holes and require some planning to avoid. The course was hard and fast with many shots rolling out much more than expected. The greens are undulated and fast. The rack rate is a bit steep but I got a great price on a last minute booking. Unfortunately, I was in a twosome behind a tournament which made for slow play March 1, 2013
Solid course in the middle of Scottsdale area I recently played a round at Camelback with my girlfriend while in town on vacation. The location is centrally located in Scottsdale and is easily accessible. The staff was very friendly and prompt in loading the clubs, getting us to the practice facility and eventually off the first tee. The practice facilities were in top shape. The course lay out is relatively flat, however the water features add some challenge. Many green side bunkers compounded by tough greens force you to be accurate on your approach shots. The greens ran very true, however they were pretty small and had lots of slope. The fairways were very forgiving for wayward tee shots. The course was challenging, but didn't feel very long. February 27, 2013
Fast Greens Camelback was a great course to play. Course was in excellent shape and overall a good and challenging layout. Fairway shots demand precise landing locations for a good approach shot. Greens are FAST and not forgiving. You must land the green or in front to have a chance at bird or par. Over shooting the greens will not find any rewards or low scores. The greens are SO fast that it makes much of the challenge to the course. Getting on in regulation will give you a chance for par but you need to bring your A game for putting. February 25, 2013
Your slider bars don't work! good course, excellent service, good pace of play and in very good condition. I am excited to see the old course go through its renovations! February 21, 2013
First day of trip This was our first day of golf on a vacation. Course staff was very friendly, course was in very nice condition, bunkers were well maintained and the greens were slippery! Course plays well to placement shots and par or birdie opprotunities means sticking tight greens. Greens were fast and interesting. All the fairways and greens were in top condition. Plays well for high or low handicap players. My wife and I both enjoyed a nice round. Will book another visit on our next trip. February 18, 2013
Good experience but slow Pace of play was slow and it's a bit priicey. Course is beautiful and very scenic. Greens are fast and lots of crowned greens making it tough to hold. Overall enjoyable. February 17, 2013
Great condition Pace was a little slow but there was a frost delay in the morning which I'm sure had something to do with that. Course was in great shape. Greens rolled very true. February 11, 2013
Very, very enjoyable, great condition, My wife & I played in a foresome on the Padre Course. Couple of sneekie water holes.2nd time we've played it. Exceptional price on Golfnow.com hot deals. Looking forward to the openning of the Indian Bend Course. February 8, 2013
very good service from staff. great practice area. course in good shape. greens were very good.played in just over 4 hours. nice to have gps on cart. very good service on and off course. very good oractice area. fairways were good. greens were very good. played in just over 4 hours. gps on cart was helpful. good test and beautiful scenery and weather. You will enjoy! February 7, 2013
Great layout and fantastic condition We played this course on a beautiful afternoon. The course has a great layout with unique design features. The GPS in the cart was very helpful for carry and layup distances. The staff was friendly and the course was in excellent condition. February 7, 2013
Nice course but value just ok Interesting course - but holes very strange - from white tees there were many about 400 yds and others about 300. Made many par 5's of par 4's for average hitters and others were short. Greens were fast and mostly true. There was not a person at the first tee to orient first time players. Also, the GPS was intermittently malfunctioning, but I had taken my Calloway UPro. Even with a hot deal needs to be lower in price for me to return. February 6, 2013
Awesome Course PERIOD! This Golf Course should be included on every golfers bucket list! From the Mountains in the backdrop to the near perfect greens Camelback Padre Golf Course is the new standard in which golf is to be measured. Every employee at this establishment went out of their way to ensure we were having the time of our life and did it with a smile!!!!! Kudos to you Camelback and you will be seeing me next year! Cant wait to see the new course. February 5, 2013
greens very nice Very slow play as many as 3 groups backed up on different holes no one around to monitor. I know we started at 2 pm but should have finished by 6pm but did not very disappointing. February 2, 2013
wide open and forgiving looks easy but ate my lunch...perhaps it was just the day. very memorable golf experience. i played a tpc course the day before and enjoyed this layout more. January 24, 2013
pace of play too slow The last 5 times I have played Camelback I haven't been able to complete 18 holes! January 22, 2013
excellent setting, great experience Best greens I've putted on, beautiful parkland setting. Fine challenge to approaches...stay out of bunkers! January 17, 2013
Super Fast Greens This is a great course. We did 18 holes in 4 hours. The fairway conditions were beautiful and the greens were outstanding. Lots of bunkers and very challenging to get out of (I know, because a spent a good amount of time in them). Many of the holes had long yardage. Finding your way to the course is a challenge in itself, as our GPS did not take us to the club house. Add 10 minutes to your drive time, if you haven't been here before, just in case you can't find it right away. January 10, 2013
New chalenge Wow What a great experience and o lot ao fun playing this course January 6, 2013
Great and challenging course!!!! From tee to green, this Padre course is well manucured. Elevated greens with many ondulations and good speed represent a real test for your short game. The scenery is interresting with Camelback mountain for back ground. January 5, 2013
