Great Muny Course I had not played Dobson Ranch in over 30 years until this week. The fairways, bunkers and greens were in excellent shape. The trees have gotten a lot bigger and frame the fairways nicely. Greens are still very fast and firm but hold a good shot. Some have huge mounds like baby elephants which make for some interesting pin placements. The practice facility is phenomenal for a muny course, with putting, bunker, chipping and long club areas. Great pro shop too, just needs some more ASU gear! December 18, 2014
good round with friends Course was in good shape. Greens were a little firm but good speed on putts. Course is fun layout and plays very fair. Traditional links with room to bail. Had a good time. December 1, 2014
Dobson Ranch Real Review I have played this course several time and I am always "aggrevated" at the pace of play and the course conditions. This time the course conditions were the best I have seen in years, but the pace of play is still lacking. I love playing golf, but 5+ hour rounds are not acceptable. Please, please, please keep the players following ready golf, and if you can't find your ball, you should only get a couple of minutes to look for it. Ready golf, now that's a concept. I would recommend putting something in the carts about golf etiquette, and the importance of time of play. Overall still a nice round, but can be much more enjoyable. November 24, 2014
Dobson Very busy parkland-style, flat course. We got around in about 4:20 hours, despite the course being packed. Condition very good, with fast greens. Some greens have severe slopes, so being below the hole is important. Good value for the money, especially if you want to walk, which this course permits. November 22, 2014
Course nothing special, horrible pace Considering that this course has 7 minute tee times, groups are most likely going to be on top of each other. They have 2 marshals and still can't make some groups keep up. There were 5 of us, but we made 2 tee times, to abide by the rules. All 5 of us ended up on almost every tee box because of the backup, so we grouped up and still were keeping up and even waiting on the group in front of us. The marshal told us that playing a 5-some was not allowed, so we split up. The group in front of us had an entire hole open in front of them, but as is usually the case, their egos or lack of golf etiquette would not allow them to let us play through and the marshal didn't make that happen either. A miserably slow round of golf!! November 17, 2014
Why would they... Overall a great course! The staff was friendly and helpful. The big problem was we zipped around the front as a foursome but then there is a par 3 on the back, and a snack shack and that is where things slowed to a crawl. We had to wait for 3 groups and it didn't pick up for a couple more holes. Make sure you allow lots of time to play. November 14, 2014
Good home course Great condition this time of year. They packed them in but did well as no one had to wait long. Fun & friendly hometown style course. :) November 13, 2014
cart path only The play was very slow as the cart path only rule was in effect. Most golfers ahead didn't carry an assortment of clubs into the fairways and held up play. The rough was long and it was hard to locate balls. The greens rolled true and the course will play better after the rough is mowed. November 8, 2014
