The course is layed out nice.
The course is challenging but not overly difficult and it is in great shape. The staff was friendly and the beverage girl came around often. There are nice views of the South Mountains. I look forward to playing this course again soon.

Great greens very receptive to approach shots
Picked this course at random and was pleasantly surprised. The location is in a less than desirable area but the course is in great shape and the greens, although recently punched, we're in great shape. Approach shots actually left ball marks, which is not all that common to greens in this area. I had a great time with a group of three I was paired with. Some local knowledge is very useful.

Slow play.
Fair conditions. But remember it's a city course and care is not put into it since the price is fair.

Great course, especially considering the price
I was impressed with Aguila. Both my friend and I commented that we will definitely go back (despite the 40 minute drive). If you have a cart, bring your own, as the course provided ones are bare bones. The greens and fairways were almost all perfect, and any bare spots were few and far between. Overall I was most impressed with the general condition of the course, mostly because I didn't expect much from a muni course. The greens had a different type of grass than I'm used to seeing here in Phoenix, a little softer but they rolled fairly fast and true. There's also a nice driving range, putting green, and chipping green. Pace of play was a little slow, but considering it was Good Friday (lots of people off of work), it wasn't bad. And since we were walking, the slower pace worked out well. We had lunch afterwards (if you want to call beer and French fries lunch) and that was also good - $6/pitcher. So all-in-all, I'm looking forward to playing there again, and enjoyed the chance to walk and get in some much needed exercise while I play.

Gary Panks at his best
Great layout. Speed of play always good. Played in 4 hours. Bunkers have nice sand, greens are always in great shape. The 2 closing holes on the front and back are outstanding

Best municipal course in Phoenix
Best value, good greens, scenic holes, fun to play. Have played it four times and will play again before we go home to Canada.

No Rangers!
The course itself is nice and was in pretty good condition. I gave it 3 stars because there were no rangers on the course, and it took my group 5 1/2 hours to play 18. Ridiculous. The group in front of us would actually stand there, wait for the win die down, then hit. At one point, there was 3-4 groups lined up at one tee box! If you have time to wait, then go play this course. If you want an average, 4 hour round, then don't go.

Great Condition
This is the greenest course I've played here in Az. Terrific practice areas, friendly staff, great price from GolfNow, smooth and true greens. Nothing not to like . An excellent layout with many challenging holes and a fine proshop. Will definitely play here again.

A fun play. Better than average municipal course.
Aquila was in good condition. The course rating and slope demands fair accuracy, but wide fairways let the amateur have a chance. Its an interesting course with a good layout. We enjoyed it very much.

This course has great features that make the game moderately challenging.
Loved the rolling fairways and greens. For mid March they were well maintained. Pace of play seemed fair to us but, at times was borderline slow depending on the golf skills of the group ahead. They have cold water located only a few places through out the course but, no out house facilities, at least I didn't see any except at the turn.....bad idea !
They have a large driving range and greens for chipping and putting practice with lots of room for everyone.
We played this course for the 1st time and found it very pleasing and moderately challenging. When I got home the 1st thing I did was booked it again for next week.

Fun little course
We played at the Aguila 9 hole executive course. It is a par 27 with 9 par 3 holes. It is in good condition and the greens are in nice shape. The holes range from little lob wedge tee shots to around 180 yards. It's a fun little course to play with kids or just to work on your short game. It took us a little over an hour to play, but we had 2 small kids with us and 3 adults.

A cross between desert and city courses
Very good condition, good for the money, and good for different caliber of golfers

Value, value, value!
If there is a better bang for your golfing buck in Phoenix, I haven't found it. The course is in good shape, has some challenging holes that require a precise shot or two, and the atmosphere is anything but pretentious.
Don't expect someone to offer to clean your clubs or free tees. Save the five bucks you would tip your cleaners and buy a logo ball or club towel to commemorate your support of affordable and accessible golf.

a great desert course with roadrunners for company
As a snowbird this is my favorite course in the valley..If I lived here year round, this would be my home course Great value, lotsa gradient and challenging greens to putt..a no-brainer to recommend

This course has a good layout
I have played here several times. Course is in good condition. Fairly easy to play. My favorite of all the phoenix city courses.

Course has great features
Course was in good shape, makes you use all your clubs.Layout and pin placements were great as well.
March 3, 2013
Would book again without hesitation
The course is in good shape. Had a real good time, on occation, felt like having a talk with the person organizing the pin position. Don't get me wrong, it was great. Looked like the Roadrunners were having as good a time as we were.

Money-wise a good deal but slow, slow pace of play.
Slowest pace of play I've ever encountered and the staff seems OK with that fact !

Great for a city owned course.
I was quite surprised by playing Aguila. First off, it's city owned, so that makes you think it's probably not well maintained. But to my surprise, the course was beautiful and how can you not love the views of South Mountain. The greens were in great shape and running true. Fairways and bunkers looked great too. Their practice area is AWESOME!! Huge putting green next to the clubhouse and a smaller one by the first tee box. The range is great and it looks like they just put out new range balls. They have a nice short game area with about a 30 yard chipping area plus a bunker. So far, this course is at the top of my list to play in Phoenix. The layout is not that difficult. There are some driveable Par 4's and some Par 5's can be reached in two. The only problem was pace of play. We played behind some pretty slow people, but we still had a great time.
February 26, 2013
THE COURSE WAS IN GOOD SHAPE.
THE 9 HOLE MAKE YOU REALZE ABOUT YOUR SHORT GAME. THAT FOR SURE.
February 25, 2013
Aguila is one of the finest municipal courses you could ever play.
This is one of Phoenix's best quality of life offerings. Aguila is always in good shape and staff keeps the pace of play tolerable for a muni. It is challenging from the tips and playable for novice golfers from the shorter tees. The views are very good as well.
February 25, 2013
This was a great executive course to play!
Play was slow due to several people playing but was a fun little course and a great beginner course. Great for the short game!
February 20, 2013
Nice course GOOD Value
Nice course. Fairway/Green above average. . pace of play SLOW should have played 18 but had a wait on EVERY hole.. could use a marshall for getting the pace up..
Would play again...
February 17, 2013
Great Value and very walkable
Played this course for the 1st time, overall great value and allows walking...in very good condition as of 2/16/13..only real issue was 'pace of play'. It took over 5 hrs to play..not sure if it was too many golfers, short period between tee times or what. But it definitely effected our overall rating....it was just way to long for around of golf.
February 17, 2013
Loved the layout.
Pace of play little slow but worth the wait.
Very nice layout.
February 16, 2013
nice course to play
I think for a high handicap person, this is a nice course to play.
February 14, 2013
I'll be back!
Million dollar views, and pretty good value, this municipal course is a real winner in my books. Long enough from the tips to give your driver a workout, and with a few twists & turns to test your iron accuracy. A little slow on the weekend, but I'll definitely be back.
February 11, 2013
excellent for beginners
For the money Aguila is worth it. Flat greens and well-maintained make it ideal for working on your game, whether you are just starting to learn or an accomplished player.
February 8, 2013
Good value and would have rated higher if not for the pace of play
The course has holes that fit both players that fade the ball and players that draw the ball. The fairways and greens were in very good condition. A couple of bunkers were missing rakes, so I apologize to the players behind me.
February 8, 2013
Good course representing Great value
The course is great value for your money. Driving range is grass, not mats and unlimited in length. No chipping or pitching area. Like so many courses, tee boxes need more attention. Course is well laid out. Some challenging holes for the average player. Very good condition, fairways are green and decent, greens are softer and fairly true. Putts don't break as much as you think. Tough to read. Overall we enjoyed our day and will play this course again. Great value here.
Note: Avoid the lady in the concession at the turn. Although the sandwich was good, she has a "major attitude" to quote a local. Nothing prepared ahead of time, out of some ingredients and works at one speed ... SLOW or SLOWER.
