Very nice course.
Green we're not as good as last time at this course, perhaps with recent rains they'll improve.

The monsoons really greened up the course, although it has always been one of the better courses in the area. Great views of the Santa Ritas can be seen from the fairways of most holes. Haven is one of my favorites because of availability to play, well maintained and pace of play.

Love the course but there are a few issues.
I have long been hesitant to write a review on the Haven. I love the course and the layout and it's usually in very good condition. Thus far this summer, it's a little rough in it's condition but it could be because the rains have been nearly non-existent despite monsoon season starting around 3 weeks ago. It's a fun little layout and not overly hard or overly easy. That being said, there are 2 MAJOR issues that really need to be addressed.
1) The maintenance staff seem to be some of the most oblivious people I have ever seen working on a golf course. I have played nearly all of the public/semi-private courses in Tucson and Green Valley and the maintenance staff at Haven just has no courtesy at all. The shop staff are awesome people but the guys out working on the course have no courtesy. In the last couple of rounds I have had a maintenance workers phone ring while my group was teeing off and instead of silencing it, he walked over and answered it and started loudly talking. The last round I played, a guy mowing continued mowing while we were teeing off on 12. Mowing right in front of tee box. We waited for him to move off to the side but he kept mowing like we weren't even there. I was so worried about hitting him that I sliced a shot into the water right. And this is how it always is there. Every other course I have played, the staff will move off to the side and turn off the mower and wait until everyone is finished and then resume what they were doing. I don't know why the staff at Haven doesn't follow this simple concept. It really ruins the sanctity of a round when you can't focus on what you're doing because the staff is right in front of you making noise, mowing, banging on something or what have you.
2) The greenside bunkers are HORRIBLE. Bunkers are a sort of living thing on a golf course and left alone will quickly deteriorate into a hardpan mess. Again, if other courses in the area can maintain their bunkers, i'm not sure why Haven cannot.
Unfortunately, issue #1 is enough for me to avoid Haven as my regular course. I used to play there as much as possible but will be looking other places now as i'm tired of paying hard earned money to listen to mowers and noise while trying to play golf. If you've never played it, it's worth a round to see it but if either the above bother you, I would just go elsewhere.

The course is always in good condition, it is not a typical desert course, very little desert, mainly grass. Greens are slow and the pace of play is very slow as the tee times are only a few minutes apart, they get you on the course were you normally wait on every shot.

If you want a great place to golf Haven is your course. Near perfect condition, and friendly staff. No desert to contend with, makes this a good place for the 'not perfect' golfer. Makes for a good day.
