Canoa Ranch Golf Club 3.2 5 109 109
Love the course layout and views! Always enjoy playing Canoa Ranch; it is a pretty course but challenging; it is in pretty good shape; better than other years. April 5, 2013
Great scenery Nice course the only draw back was players in front taking way to long.Waited approx 10min on some holes to tee off. They need to know to let players play through. April 4, 2013
challenging but exhilarating. Excellent course for the money. The only minus would be that the traps need to be reworked with better sand as most every Arizona course. Great golf outing for any skill level. April 4, 2013
Nice layout. Nice layout and facility but needs attention to condition. April 4, 2013
I played this course when it first opened and it was in great shape. For whatever reason they have let it go downhill badly. I was disappointed in the I played this course when it first opened and it was in great shape. For whatever reason they have let it go downhill badly. I was disappointed in the way it was today as to how it was at one time. 4/2413 Sad April 3, 2013
Course needs alot of TLC Course was fair at best. Greens were ok, fairways were spotty, tee boxes were good. However sandtraps were awful, some sand, or hard sand with rocks, and all were very hard packed (no raking). Best part of course was probably the clubhouse (food was good) March 29, 2013
Maps would be nice This was our first time to play the course. Since we had no local knowledge and there were some blind shots a map would have been helpful. It was in good condition and we enjoyed our outing. March 27, 2013
Enjoyable but challenging course Had an enjoyable afternoon playing with family. Just watch out for the 8th. March 26, 2013
What Happened to Canoa Ranch Golf Course!! Many years ago I played Canoa Ranch many times and enjoyed the course and clubhouse and pro shop. What has happened? It seems like the new ownership is milking the course and not putting any money in the much needed maintenance and actual repair of the facilities. The course was sparse and hard as a rock and the rough was unplayable. Short cuts are the rule at Canoa Ranch. The new owner needs to commit to the golf course and repair the obvious. My playing partners will never play this course again. March 25, 2013
We had the golf & dinner for an additional $12. Was very good. Canoa Ranch is in much better shape than the last time we played there about 2 months ago. Bunkers still need work - - there are rocks the size of small boulders in them!! Also, I realize that they are trying to save money, but how much would it cost to put a receptacle for broken tees on each tee box?? All those broken tees make each tee box look very untidy & that detracts from the scenery.. March 25, 2013
This course is challenging and in good shape. First of all Great specials (value) especially coming from Tucson; very friendly Hosts, and the course challenging and kept in very good shape. The only complaint is no food and drink cart-I did know there would be none otherwise I would of prepared myself much better. I definitely would play again!!! March 19, 2013
Do not pay full price for this course... Course has a wonderful layout, a great combination of challenging holes and incredible scenery. They normally charge $65.00 for 18 and a cart. I would not pay that to play this course. However I booked with golfnow which allowed us to play for $35.00 which included a cart and free lunch. The fairways are lacking grass, the greens are hard and need to be rolled, and every bunker I ended up in needs sand. Best grass I found was at the practice tee. Gave it 3 stars instead of 2 due to the free lunch and 1/2 price greens fees. It was a fun course to play and has great views, with better maintenance it could become a must play course... March 17, 2013
Course requirest smart play We had two very slow groups in front of us and there was no marshal to speed up play. We waited at every Tee box and on the course as well March 17, 2013
Great layout, challenging and fun Always enjoy playing The Ranch as it has many holes that require some careful thought on club selection and lots of opportunities for risk/reward if you use good course management. Greens are pretty consistent, fairways are greening up and the vistas are breathtaking! March 16, 2013
ok course. Greens need work. Course has the look of a course in financial difficulty. March 16, 2013
Good course layout with challenging holes. This was a very good course to play, with a nice lay-out and challenging holes. All players would enjoy the course by playing the appropriate 't'. The scenery was spectacular, and each hole offered a different challenge. Familiarity with the course certainly helps so maps of the holes with distances to natural obstacles, a GPS system with playing suggestions or others aids would be a definite asset. Overall the greens were fast and the fairways well maintained. We would certainly play this course again March 16, 2013
Pleasurable experience Challenging course, but fun. Pretty good condition; assume it's getting better with TLC. Only negative is that bunkers need "renewed" sand. Staff is VERY friendly and helpful. The scenic vistas are wonderful and make this course worth playing. March 15, 2013
Best scenery in S Az. The course has many irregular surfaces, bumpy, and needs added seeding to become a great lawn surface. March 15, 2013
Great layout , greens were rough but had good speed This is my favorite course in the Green Valley area. The fairways did not have grass everywhere. The greens were around 9- 10 but hard to hit a smooth down hill putt without it bounceing around. I played with a discounted fee, soo I wasn't to disappointed. When this course is in top shape it is a challenge. I am a 5 so I like a challenging course. I wouldn't recommend this course now, but it is on it's way back. March 15, 2013
Putting green The practice putting green was in poor condition and was not reflective of the speed of the greens on the course. March 14, 2013
Excellent Maps or signage should be available to golfers. First time players have no idea where they're going or how the holes play. Maps are available only if purchased? March 14, 2013
Good value for the money. The 9 hole special was super. Course was in good shape. The foursome in front was extremely slow and the ladies twosome behind us hit into us three times. March 12, 2013
This course needs grass. Front nine straight-forward golf. Back nine target golf. Liked the course layout, but for the money maintenance is needed. Fairways need grass. The greens were bumpy and the ball did not run true, nor did the ball check. Can not rate the sand traps since hitting from a trap did not come into play. March 12, 2013
Needs water Greens fast and bumpy. Fairways poorly overseeded. March 9, 2013
good course. Bad if you have a young rider with you. I have played this course many times. This is probably my favorite course. It is usually in good shape. A couple of years ago they went from a type of grass that they never overseeded and therefore they didn't have to close the course for overseeding. Since then the course is not in as good of shape as it used to be. This time, and this is the second time I took my 6 yr. old son with me, they charged me an extra $20 just for him to ride with me even though I was playing with a 3-some and nobody was scheduled to ride with me. They claim that the charge was because insurance purposes. They say they are responsible for the riders. Do you think that would mean that if he would have fallen out and broke his arm that they would have covered the cost of the medical care? Some how I don't think so. March 6, 2013
Good course for a weekend getaway Canoa ranch is always a good course. The staff have done a good job maintaining the course during the winter. Overall I would play there again. March 5, 2013
thr greens were fast and smooth There was an half hour delay (frost). THe course is designed very well, alot of fun holes lots of up and down holes, I liked the course.. The sand bunkers need more sand, very difficult to get under the ball. All in all a very enjoyable day. Cost was special. March 3, 2013
Conditions improving but needs more attention Great course layout with nice views. I played early morning, on a weekday, Feb 27th 2013. Pace of play was great. Fairway grass is sparse in many areas, greens roll true where grass is plentiful, but there are trouble-some areas on many greens. I see improvement in the conditions, but more work is required before I can recommend paying rake rates for these conditions. February 28, 2013
Unique terrain well used to create a vary interesting track to play. Interesting course in reasonable condition - creates an enjoyable golf experience. February 21, 2013
Course could be very good with better maintenance Turf is getting very thin and spotty. Bunkers were filled with dirt and stones but little sand and was not maintained. Greens were fast but not smooth and have multiple grasses. February 20, 2013
