Greens a little sandy/bumpy, but a great deal for the money ($69) True AZ-style course. Not pristine but in good shape. Greens were a little sandy and bumpy. Locals said that the greens were unusually poor. Made the mistake of playing at 2pm on a Friday. The ranger had left for the day and there were several 4-somes playing at 5hr pace. Extremely painful. For the money ($69) - a pretty good deal. April 2, 2013
Resort prices/Municipal Conditions This is a problem throughout the Phoenix area, courses charging Resort prices for courses that have the upkeep of your daily muni course. They are doing construction everywhere, fairways were beat up, and almost every putt bounced on its way to the hole. The area is amazing, great scenery, but the course was OK. March 27, 2013
Great course in great condition Played here on 3/15/13 with two friends after playing Eagle Mountain the previous day. This was definitely a better course and in very good condition (fairways were lush and perfect). Interesting shots throughout. Eagle was a nice track, but this one was just in great shape. A bit of a drive as we were coming from Paradise Valley, but worth it. We started early (7:10 a.m.) to beat the crowd, so pace of play was pretty good - group in front was slow but ranger offered early for us to be able to play through). Staff friendly to us entire time. We bought the "all you can play price, which included a box of Pro-V's and lunch, but when we finished the first round there was a long line at the 1st tee, so the wait would have been close to 3 hours. We skipped the second round and hit the pool, but with the Pro-V's and lunch, it didn't feel as if we got jipped. If we were staying locally around the course, we might have left and came back later to play again (an option they offered to us). Overall, a great place to play (although we did play Quintero the next day, which blew away even Estrella - not easy to do). March 18, 2013
currently over priced compared to other courses available the greens were on the slow side and bruised. the new construction area for houses has taken away from the desert feel of the course. Estrella has a good practice area. March 17, 2013
Course layout was nice. Marginally worth the $55 I paid.....anything more I would consider over priced. Pace of play was poor Fairways in great shape. The course should be downright embarrassed on the condition of their greens ( this being in season). Greens were shaggy, very slow & in poor over all condition. Lack of quality shown in the shoddy way greens are cut adding to poor experience......very disappointing for a Troon Managed Course and $$$$$ they think this course is worth. Price would have to be in the 50 dollar range for me to recommend. March 14, 2013
Not Impressed and Very Bumpy Greens Was not impressed with the course. The starter told us to expect lighting fast greens, was which not the case. They ran at about 9.5 on the stimpmeter, but were some of the bumpiest greens I've ever played. Either old aeration holes or old ballmarks all over the greens - nothing ran straight or smooth. Topdressing is desperately needed. The layout is nothing special either. Also, there is lots of construction going on (earth moving, etc.) for new housing so it is noisy and some of the desert is out of play due to construction. It is out of the way to get to and overpriced as well. I will not return and do not recommend it. March 13, 2013
Well designed course with many excellent and interesting holes. Excellent course. Fairways and greens in verygood shape. Most of the greens are protected with sandtraps in front and ready to catch wayward shots to the side. I thought some of the bunkers could use more sand. Generous fairways for medium and higher handicappers.. The staff both inside and outside the clubhouse were very friendly and helpful. An excellent outing. March 12, 2013
Desert like golf, has wider fairways, that don't come into play Some construcation going on but doesnt change the game here. Hitting your drive in the fairway, it makes it easier to go at the green, still many greens are heavily bunckered. Fairways may be not narrow as some courses in the area but this course still demands a well place drive to attacks these very hard @very slick greens, that are laying sloped front to back or side to side. Most of my putts were hit so softly that it took a bit to get use to!! That mean very "FAST" March 5, 2013
not for your average golfer. We were running late and called to let the pro shop know. On our arrival there was no rush to make up time. The pro shop moved around some other times to allow us to get ready. That was appreciated. Only saw the cart girl once on each nine. March 2, 2013
Great Course and great scenery Only thing I was disappointed was I had called the course before tee time and wasn't told there would be a delay because of frost My tee time was at 1:42pm and didn't tee off until 2:20pm unfortunately I was not able to play 18 holes Not only that there was a fivesome ahead of me and there was no marshall to help keep play moving along February 28, 2013
Good, challenging course Course in good condition. Challenging layout. Very slow pace of play February 24, 2013
Nice Course and People Course was in very good shape and the people including the members were very friendly. The course was in great shape and the greens were true and fast, just the way I like them. February 22, 2013
Nice Layout I like the design of the golf course and in general, the course was in good shape but not pristine. Lots of construction going on right next to course, so scenery is alot of earth moving equipment which does not add to the scenery. A couple good views but nothing WOW! Welcome was great and friendly. We were there plenty early hoping to get breakfast but they only had breakfast sandwiches which were good. Got to first tee box area and group in front of us were not there. First hole open, he did not let us go ahead even though we were ready and ended up waiting most of round. February 19, 2013
This course is a great southwest example Course is in great shape.Greens seem to have something going on but rolled great. The construction kind of takes away from the experiance but all in all a nice day. I would recommend this course but would prefer to play it only at a twilight rate. February 18, 2013
beautiful course Course was great, challenging and in great shape. Cart girls were very friendly and helpful. Great experience with the exception of the Greeter/Starter at the 1st tee on the last day. (first three days were fine). We were getting ready to tee off and had purchased some beer from the lounge in the club house. One of the guys had a Bud Light Lime and the Starter rudely accused us of bringing the beer from off course as he believed they didn't serve that brand. We informed him that we had purchased the beer from the lounge and he offered no apology for his rudeness. Had he not have been so arrogant and rude about this or even offered some form of apology he could have rectified the situation. As such, it really spoiled our view of the course. As a point of reference, we had at this point golfed the course four days in a row and spent a generous amount of money with the beverage carts as well. Would recommend that the starter learn what type of beverages they serve or learn how to be polite. Other than this, the course was great, greens were fantastic and beverage cart girls were a pleasure to deal with February 18, 2013
Recommended Played here many times, never disappointed, good challenge, keep up the good work. February 18, 2013
Lots of sand and pin locations can be challenging It was cold and wet the day we played but the staff was great and the course was in great condition. February 14, 2013
good but Great course only issue is the development activity by the builder around the front nine. Lots of heavy equipement noise and detours for construction February 14, 2013
one of the best courses in Arizona I have played this course many times. It is a beautiful but challenging course. Course was in great shape. Greens rolled very well. Course requires you to be smart and accurate. If you miss the fairway you are in the desert and there is some home construction going on along some of the fairways. The pro shop and marshalls were great and the cart girls were too. I love this course but you have to be patient and select good shots when playing this course. We played 18 in 41/2 hrs. February 10, 2013
the fairways were great but the greens were bumpy and inconsistent--they need to be rolled. the course is a nice layout and it can be very challenging. But the greens made it not such a pleasure to play. They were inconsistent, bumpy and slow in most cases. They need some more grass and rolled more often. The cost wasn't worth it because of the greens. February 7, 2013
good layout, challenging Course is fun to play and in good shape. There is noisy construction going on around some holes. February 6, 2013
Could be a great course if few minor details are taken care of Not the best all inclusive deal. They wont work with you to make sure you can play 36 holes. Rounds are slow with no marshall in sight to speed up the slow play. Took almost five hours for my first round and than I had to wait an hour to tee off again since they wont get you a replay time ahead of finishing your first round. also this place is a construction zone not a golf course! hard to play golf with all the heavy machinery and dynamite going off! wish they would have given me a heads up! February 3, 2013
Needs a lot of maintenance Treated poorly from arrival no carts available no one offered to help with ride to range. 30 min. Late as staff were looking for 4 player. No markers on tee boxes gateway tour played before Us we stayed for dinner did not see any gateway players eating. Won't go back till I receive apology for how we were treated. January 30, 2013
Excellent course Good fun to be had at Estrella, great variety of holes, elevation changes, huge greens, good practice facility, accomodating staff. Like any course you're rewarded with good scores if you hit good shots. January 24, 2013

Great course and nice practice facility. Great course layout and breathtaking views. Great practice facilities. January 22, 2013
Great day at Estrella Course was in excellent condition for this time of year. Perfect weather, pace of play was under 4.5 hours. My buddy made a hole in one and the staff was very helpful in getting him all the information he needed to report everything. January 20, 2013
Stay out of the dessert! Great experience. Course condition slightly impacted by construction January 18, 2013
Very relaxing Always a good time. Great views and well done. Would play it again. January 6, 2013
Awesome track Very nice golf course. Exceptional layout away from houses. Enough trouble to keep it interesting. Greens were in good condition for January. Fast. Fairways were in very good condition. January 4, 2013
