The Boulders Resort Golf Club - South Course

Book online and get discount tee times at The Boulders Resort Golf Club - South Course

The South course provides its players with much of the same experience they would find on the North course at The Boulders. The scenic views and desert beauty continue - with even more locations for the perfect photographic moment. While the North course is the original offering from the resort, many people believe that the South course is the most scenic. In fact it has holes that go right up into the boulder formations. During your round you will encounter the signature "Boulder Pile" and also "Rosie's Rock", two of the resort's most recognizable rock formations.

The Boulders Resort Golf Club 4.6 5 32 32
World class golf, world class beauty....what else do you want? The South Course at The Boulders is definitely the more picturesque of the two. Mix that with a challenging layout and tournament quality conditions. Sounds like one of the best courses you could play. In a city, world renown for it's golf, this one stands among the very few top few. In fact, it is one of the main reasons that Phoenix is a worldwide destination for golf. This course makes my top 25, and I have played over a thousand courses around the world. What else is there to say? April 4, 2013
Great practice faculty. Friendly staff. Beautifull layout. Staff was extremely friendly. Great practice facilities. Beautiful golf course with fun holes that offer good challenges. Well marked and easy to get around. Good pace of play. April 3, 2013
We had a fantastic time, more for the views than the score on the card Tough fairways with lots of difficulty. We knew coming in this would be an experience to enjoy and not worry over our scores. The course was in terrific condition. Tough greens and traps were a bit hard because of recent rains. Definately want to go back and play the North course March 16, 2013
Overpriced target golf! For the price charged would have been nice to have GPS on the carts along with rain covers for the clubs. We played through rain showers and the club provided big garbage bags, classy January 28, 2013
Wonderful conditions, staff and of course our beautiful weather One of the "must play" resorts. Either the North or South course will test your skills and your camera. January 22, 2013
Visually wonderful A pleasure to play - beautiful and challenging. You will hit all the clubs in your bag. Friendly staff and great amenities. I cannot wait to go back! Only wish the rangers would be more attuned to the pace of play January 18, 2013
Not what I expected Drove up from Tucson where I had recently played Omni Tucson National and Tubac both in truly great condition. Both courses had very green fairways with dormant rough and greens in near perfect condition that had nice color to them. It's a long way from Tucson to the Boulders and I was expecting a very special experience in playing there beyond what I had gotten from Omni and Tubac. The course has a very dull green look to it with a fair amount of brownish grass mixed in. Not sure why they overseeded the rough (at least on the South course which is what I played.) The greens had a dull color to them and were in only moderate condition. Considering this is winter I expected this course to have a more emerald green look to it. Overall the conditions looked like a typical Arizona course during the summer where it has a burned out look to it and should not be looking like this in mid-January. More of a municipal feel to it rather than a high dollar luxury course experience. Unfortunately, the holes that should have looked spectacular due to the layouts and the amazing rock formations, looked washed out and not what they should be. January 18, 2013
A must ply in Phoenix. Worth the drive. The front nine on this course is incredibly challenging. The greens are very well maintained and quick. The real bonus is the scenery. The area is in the higher desert out squids of Phoenix and has a natural beauty. The back nine opens up a bit and allows for more scoring opportunities. January 4, 2013
Beautiful desert mountain setting, well-maintained course Played the North Course on Christmas Day. It was in great shape and the staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Having never played the course before, the opening holes were tough with blind shots. If you miss the fairway, you can be in serious trouble in the desert or have a lost ball. Tha back nine is friendlier with most of the holes laying out before you without many blind shots. The greens are quick and roll true but most players apparently don't bother with repairing pitch marks or spike marks. It's a fun layout in great shape in a beautiful desert mountain environment. Plenty of wildlife on the course, too. December 26, 2012
A challenging and fair golf course A must play golf course...excellent course and staff. December 21, 2012
Beautiful Course Great Resort course.Wide fairways, big greens Good facilities and staff. December 11, 2012
Perfect Played the North course. No boulders but lots of traps. The couse was perfect in every way. The golf staff has a way of combining professionalism with relaxed friendliness. December 10, 2012
Great round! Normally I stay away from courses charging $150+ per round, however I am glad to have taken the plunge and played the Boulders. The staff treated you like a member! The course was in excellent shape; greens all rolled true, there was no guessing as to speed. Though the lot was full when I arrived, generally signaling a slow round, for the most part we had the course to ourselves. A great job of spacing the golfers. December 4, 2012
This course has phenomenal scenery. One of my favorite courses that I have ever played. Winding through large boulders and amazing views on every hole. The course was in perfect condition. December 1, 2012
Always love boulders Staff super friendly and very attentive. Course conditions excellent. Hard to get around before dark after about 1 pm but reduced afternoon fees reflect that. November 30, 2012
Boulders North Very Nice Course, service was great. Front nine on North was just ok, back nine much more challenging and scenic. Glad I got such a good discount on GN for this round. I would not rank this as a course that I would pay close to $200 to play. Not nearly as nice as some others. November 21, 2012
Great variety of holes Scenic Beautiful and excellent golf course. Pace of play was slow and on a non busy afternoon over 4 and one-half hours is too long. Seeing a bobcat was exciting for me and my wife November 20, 2012
Great golf experience! Great course and the staff were wonderful, the pace of play was not good however because of the cart path only during their overseeding stage. We thought we would be good to go when booking 5 weeks after overseeding had begun but we apparently thought wrong. November 6, 2012
One of the best courses I've ever played. I've played over a dozen top courses in Arizona and golfed in several other states and countries and this is right up there with the best golf you can find. The course is beautiful, the facilities are incredible and the design is amazing. Not to mention we got over 50% off our tee time making this probably the best value for the quality of golf in my life. This isn't a course you'll ever regret playing regardless of how you shoot. November 5, 2012
Typical dessert course for N.Scottsdale but better value for money elsewhere at this time of year. Nice dessert course but at the rack rate doesn't provide the same overall experience as Troon. Penal if you are spraying it off the tee. New grass on the fairways which was left long and was watered frequently and soggy in places. Lots of plugged lies but probably not the norm. November 5, 2012
Worth Replaying Would definitely play again! The massive boulders provided a very unique setting when compared to other desert courses. November 3, 2012
Great golfcourse, spectacular views, good challenge Everything would have been perfect, but after overseeding, naturally the fairways need more time and carts on path only was a bit disturbing. So only 4 stars out of 5. October 31, 2012
Nice but not that nice. There are better courses in the area for the money. The day we played the course was very saturated and not much roll. It wasn't that hot out so not sure why they watered it down so much. Nice location and very quite. Challenges here and there. A little to easy par 3's. October 15, 2012
Course has recently been overseeded The course you hear about so much is the South Course. I played the North Course & while it is a really good layout it is not as picturesque as the South Course. Over-seeding has recently been completed with cart path only. This also meant that the fairways were lush & there was very little run on the fairways. The greens were in great shape but the green surrounds were very soft. I would have preferred either a map with pin locations in certain zones or a coloured flag system to help locate the pin on the greens. There was a smaller flag on the pin which was supposed to help us see where the pin was located on the green but most of the time there was no discernible difference hole to hole despite finding differences once on the green. I played the back 9 first & it is definitely the tougher 9. I'd prefer to play it from 1 - 18 as you'd be well into your game before coming to the tougher 9 holes. Overall the course was challenging, a great layout with some very pretty holes. I'd definitely like to play it again. October 11, 2012
awesome place to play! We played the north course in 41/2 hrs during the transitional time of year (overseeding) . Great condition that will only get better. Pace of play was alittle above average considering cp only on all holes.Beer special for a six pack 25$ was which we took great advantage of was decent considering the resort. Bent grass greens that rolled like velvet was the greatest feature of the course. Would like to have played the south course suppose to be more sceanic. Overall the money spent 110$ for this round was good . October 11, 2012
Great views on a nice course I played an afternoon round out here and was taken aback by some of the scenery and views. What a great job building 2 golf courses into some terrific natural elements. Elevated tee-boxes, framed greens, this was a gorgeous course. They were nearing overseed, and had already shut down the North course, but despite some yellow on the fairways you could tell this course was still being very well taken care of. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone, especially since I didn't see it at its best. Staff were all very friendly and accomodating as well. I will be back. October 10, 2012
Outstanding course This is one of the most scenic courses I've played in Arizona. It's easy to get to and the staff couldn't be more accomodating. The conditions were the best I saw during my brief stay in the area. I highly recommend this course to anyone that enjoys great golf with outstanding scenery. October 10, 2012
Great value Great course for the money! Got a deal at 50% off. High end course, very nicely manicured. Great pace of play. Friendly staff! October 9, 2012
Wonderful track and a great place for lunch after your round Some of the most awesome tee boxes that I have ever played. September 25, 2012
Great day at the Bolders Had a great day at the Bolders. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. One of the better courses I've played. Challenging but fair. The greens were exceptional and the overall condition of the course was well above average. Would have liked to go back for a second round but were committed to play at another course in the area. After playing that course we wished we had gone back to Bolders for a second round. September 24, 2012
