Apache Creek Golf Club in Apache Junction is a popular and affordable place to play in the East Valley of Phoenix. Located just off go I-60, this championship course dates back to 1994 when it was laid out by J. Alsip. When you have a tee time at Apache Creek Golf Club you ll be treated to a pure golf realm there are no houses around the playing field that is further enhanced by stunning views of the Superstition Range. Alsip designed a very playable, fun desert layout. Although the tee boxes, fairways and greens are surrounded by desert, Apache Creek Golf Club is not a target-style course. Tee shots must carry over a patch of desert to the fairway, but then the irrigated turf usually extends all the way to the putting surface. While the landing areas are fairly generous, there s not much rough to stop the ball. Desert transition areas, which loom everywhere beyond the rough, consist primarily of dirt with some shrubbery and rocks and constitute the main trouble on the course. Usually players find wayward balls and can play recovery shots. Wind also is often a factor (especially in the afternoon) on this very flat, exposed layout. Apache Creek Golf Club boasts a nice mix of holes. Water, in the form of a creek and a couple of small lakes, comes into play on several holes. The signature hole at Apache Creek Golf Course is an island green par-3. The club takes pride in its well maintained greens. Apache Creek Golf Club s greens are medium-sized and sloped from back to front. Getting the ball in the hole can be tricky. Everyone should be able to handle the challenge of the course, especially since the five sets of tee markers present judiciously spaced distance options between 5,063 yards and 6,795 yards. Practice facilities at Apache Creek Golf Club include a large driving range that includes a mobile shaded canopy that comes in handy when the sun is sizzling. You can also warm up on a pitching and chipping green, a sand bunker and two putting greens. The clubhouse features a pro shop and a snack bar and grill. For a pleasant, budget-friendly desert game in scenic surroundings with no houses around, it's hard to beat a tee time at Apache Creek Golf Club in Apache Junction.
