Ross Bridge Golf Resort

The Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Ross Bridge is just two miles from the existing 54-hole complex at Oxmoor Valley in Birmingham, but it is light years away from the expected or ordinary. A big, muscle-bound course, its 18 holes sprawling over 330 acres and stretching almost 8,200 yards from the back tees, Ross Bridge is big and brawny, yet inviting to golfers of all skill levels.

The course meanders through indigenous landscape and around the 262-room Renaissance Ross Bridge Golf Resort and Spa. Designed for tournament play, Ross Bridge is symbolic of an old parkland style course. Ten holes play along the banks of two man-made lakes connected by a spectacular waterfall dropping 80 feet between the ninth and eighteenth greens. A gristmill added to the waterfall reflects the history of this old mining site. The beauty and challenge of each hole leads many to believe there is not one signature hole but possibly eighteen.

Nike rentals , no shoe rental available Thought course was in great condition. We played in winter so rough was dormant. Locals said they like it better in summer because the fairways are softer and the course is greener. Several holes had nice elevation changes which coming from south Florida is always nice change. There are several different tees to play from including the black at over 8000 yards! It's about a half hour drive from downtown Birmingham so if you're in the area put it on your list of places to play. February 25, 2013
Great course! Challenging from whites and teals! We played whites and teals (24 and 36 indexes) and had a great time. Open fairways but incredibly challenging. Slope from white seems wrong - much more challenging. LOTS of water to shoot over from the whites. With wind, you'll be challenged, to say the least. Very dry, especially compared to Oxmoor Valley Valley course. Very friendly marshalls who care about you having a good time. VERY fast greens, as they warned us in the pro shop. White te RTJ Golf Trail website had deals for the winter, Golf Now cost was less. February 23, 2013
Great golf experience Big, bold, visually impressive, and fun. Greens were nearly perfect. Super long, but if played from the right tees, more playable than other RTJ courses. Unless you put one in the water, you'll have a hard time losing a ball here. Room to miss on most holes. February 7, 2013
Best RTJ course but not cheap. The Ross Bridge is the best RTJ course in my opinion but it is the most expensive. My main complaint about RTJ courses is that the green complexes are too sectioned off so if you are not within 20-25 feet with an approach you would have to go over a large slope to get to the correct level or section. Ross Bridge greens give you the ability to have a reasonable two putt from 40-50 feet if you miss your approach. The elevation changes provide great views and large drops from tee to fairway. Offers a great practice area and ends with a fun finishing hole that makes you think on both the tee and approach shot. The course was in great shape and the greens were very nice considering they are bent andI played it in late september after a hot and dry summer. Really enjoyed it! October 5, 2012
